My dad left me I'm assuming is a 1970 something Norton commando. I am suspect that it has a cracked head? Is there any value to it if it doesn't run? I know nothing about Nortons

B.B,
You will find a red number plate at the front, right behind the head light on the steering down tube.
The serial number on the engine and top of the gearbox and head plate would all be the same if it wasn't altered.
Are you trying to Restore it or sell it?
What is cracked on the Head?

Inquiring minds want to know...
(1) What country are you in?
(2) Why do you think it has a cracked head? Can you post a photo?
(3) Do you ride? Have you ever ridden a motorcycle?
(4) Do you have any mechanical skills?

I am reminded of the time a friend bought a Meriden Triumph, in good condition, all parts on bike, for $550 because "it didn't run." A half hour of wrenching later, the stuck kickstarter was unstuck and he had a very sweet running bike.

Hi, welcome! 🍻 You came to the right place.
Serial number is on the engine case just below the left cylinder. (And also on the aluminum tag on the steering neck)
Please post the number to start.

Are you a motorcyclist?

Are you interested in owning this bike?

If so, tell us about your mechanical skillset....

What makes you think the head is cracked?

Yes, it has value. I bought a non-runner Friday.
