About to put in my new rear wheel, with no cush and three bolts, could some one please post photos of spacer, arrangement around speedo drive.

Also photos of rear wheel adjuster nuts and washers.

Also front wheel with funny little capped/dome washer, I believe, between TLS and RH fork leg

Thanks in advance.

Don't you have the Commando Workshop Manual? If you need it, I have it on pdf. about 7MB and can send it to you. It has the drawings of both front and rear wheels.

I'm sure the wheel adjusters and nuts are just like the 71 and you can see that on OB.

I don't have the bolt up rear hub set up anymore, but it is pretty simple. The speedo drive goes against the lugs on the hub. The top hat spacer goes in the speedo drive. The chunk of pipe spacer goes between the top hat and the swing arm. The axle bolts it all together. The outer spacer has always been a tight fit on my bike. Cocking the wheel to the side a little makes some space to get the spacer started. Pull the wheel back straight and wiggle the spacer into the right spot.

The tin cover goes on the other side of the front wheel, i.e. the pinch bolt side.

Huh, I thought Dave would post a photo...

Is this good enough?

make sure on the rear hub, the spacer has the long tang going into the single row bearing. It's counter intuitive, but if you do it wrong, it binds. I forget about the front, but I have notes if you don't.

I just realized that they are showing the speedo gearbox with the cable drive on top. Mine has always been on the bottom? What's going on there?

Josh don't even try to live without a "parts manual!" it is one of the best things you can spend $ on in order to maintain you sanity. ( or serenity which is a word I'm sure you've been hearing a lot lately. )

I have a parts manual, seeing picture of actual bikes make it a little clearer for me.

The top picture has all the parts for the front a rear wheels ( well to the best of my knowledge ).

Questions?:

Front wheel, logically the little dome cap/washer would be on the LH side, near the big shiney hub centre, yet it will only slide a short distance along the front spindle ( you'll see the wear marks, as if it belongs between the TLS and RH fork slider ).

Rear wheel:

* could someone measure the distance between the speedo drive and the rh swing arm mount ( or the diameter of the spacer/spacers that fit that spot ) ?,
* is there supposed to be a washer between the outer nuts and the swing arm ?, without the washers the adjusters do not push square on the nut flange ?.

Front wheel all sorted, there was a small bur on the rh fork and a little CAD build up on the bolt.

The questions for the rear wheel stand.

Cheers,

Josh

I have 1 5/16" between the speedodrive and the swingarm, and a washer under the head of the axle bolt.
