I am attempting to remove the chrome fork extension/oil seal holder from the lower aluminum fork tube on an pre 1970's norton commando/roadster.

I'm under the impression the chrome extension/oil seal holder screws into the aluminum lower fork.

I put the fork lower in the vice. (Squeezing the lower where the axle goes through.)

The stanchion will not come out until the chrome fork extension/oil seal holder is removed. (I think).

The inerds (top nut, spring, baffle, The screw in the bottom of the fork lower has already been removed.

The stanchion slides freely up and down but will not come out. it will slide upward to a point.

I need to remove the chrome fork extension/oil seal holder. This part may act as a double.

I put a heat gun to the aluminum fork lower and using leather gloves was unable to unscew it. I then wrapped a thick piece of rubber around the chrome extension and using my pipe wrench i gave it a push but I am relunctant with that idea. Yes I grabbed it near the threads as to not crush the chrome extension.
To no avail.

I used a razor blade knife and cleaned out the space between the bottom of the chrome extension and the top of the aluminum fork lower. There is a small hole on each side of the chrome extension. But getting a spanner in that thin space?????

Any ideas how to remove the chrome extension/oil seal holder without damaging it?

Thank you. I managed to get the Chrome fork extenders off. I ended up asking a friend to assist with holding the fork lower steady while I gave the wrench a good hefty nudge. Unscrewed right out.
