1970 Commando Transmission Rebuild

It is time to break open the cases and see what condition my lay shaft is in; mainly for my own peace of mind.

I bought the Mick Hemmings video to see how involved the process is and it looks pretty straight forward. If I am in there already I am planning to replace all the worn parts and was wondering what the group considered the best supplier of rebuild components. I have seen the Old Brits site and I know that Hemmings sells kits as well. Is there another reliable source that I have overlooked?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Ron

Need to add your address. If you are in the us or canada, I have found Walridges in Ontario to be a reasonably priced and reliable vendor. They are having their year end sale right now. Don't recall any gear box parts, but you might find other things you need and combine on shipping. By the by, I also used the Hemmings DVD for my gear box on a portable player right on the work bench. Watch how he does it, pause and then do like he did. Sometimes back up to review. Old Britt's has some good info on gear box on their web site, especially on setting end play. Be sure and use a superblend layshaft bearing. Most vendors carry them. Good Luck

I think you will find reliable parts from Old Britts, RGM, Norvil and Hemmings. Take your choice. The last 3 have complete kits, OB may too, don't know. I bought most of my GB stuff from Hemmings, the exchange rate makes the postage worth it. I buy stuff from Walridge too and haven't been dissapointed.
