Hi
Ended up with a lot of 1969 Daytona parts from a deceased estate, sometime back and have made the decision to build it this year 2021.
Basically I have a complete matching numbers, engine, and frame, what appears to be the correct front forks wheel (8" TLS brake) and rear wheel, the yokes may not be correct as the top one has the "P" clamps but should the handle bars be solid mounted?
I bought a NOS fuel tank and front mudguard a few years back, but I have a couple of questions.
The fuel tank and the guard is emerald green and silver, the never had fuel in it but the front mounts don't line up with frame mounts, I have seen tanks with an elevated U shaped bracket that I think might be the correct style, but this one has the flat mount with a nut welded to it, I assume the difference is taken up by rubber mounts, but the hole spacing is different? I can elongate the holes in the frame lugs to suit and add rubber mounts to suit, and will most likely go this way, but for curiosity sake I would like to know why the difference?
The front mudguard for 69, should it have one rear lower bolt on the stay or two, as the mudguard I have has two, I don't have any front mudguard stays, but I am thinking I will just order the stays to fit the guard.
Now I am looking for a rear guard and am wary of buying none original, I am confused as to the change in part numbers, do the mudguard part numbers change due to the different paint schemes or are they physically different, 66 to 70?
Work on the engine so far, crank reground, and barrels re-bored, new pistons/rings, and basically ready to put back together.
Got to dechrome a lot of the parts such as front forks, yokes and a few bits around the battery box, not sure if the oil tank is correct but looks ok, also looking for battery side cover.
Otherwise not much else:p
This will be a slow process so no photos for a while, as I have a couple of other builds to finish first, but in the meantime I will be collecting the parts I require.

Best Regards
Burgs
