1969 S barrells

These 1969 S barrell have the front conrods passege closed (sorry, i dont know the correct technical words!).
Only on the Atlas barrells i had seen before, never on Commando.
Is better to open?

I think pierodn is referring to the con rod releif being bigger on one side than the other. Smaller one looks "closed" compared to the deeper one.

You understood well.
Dogt'barrells too are closed to the rear side.
