I just started re-assembling a '68 fastback restoration and I can't seem to find the original style tank & tail badges. While I credit Andover with making a badge, the type they are making now are flexible peel and stick badges that are just not adequate for a high level restoration.

Does anyone know where the original domed hard acrylic type badges can be sourced? Also, if anyone has any NOS badges I would be very interested in buying them.

Here is a link to a picture.

I to am loooking for one for my tail piece on my 69, on my origonal tank badges the background is quite mirror silver as i brought one from RGM which was more a plain silver background.

I've looked all over for the original type but can't find any. One member said he might know a guy who can make them.

britcycle.com has part #06-0864 description is Badge, Tank/tail Section, Fastback-on Acrylic, Domed, "Norton Villiers"
Exactly as Original.
If I knew how to attach a link, I surely would! I hope this helps?

Thanks for the info. I checked with them but they only have the new type. Their website still has the old description.

Yeah - when I was converting my roadster to a fastback last year, the lack of real badges being available was what turned me to the later, decal-type tank. But obviously, since you have an original bike from the year that they actually used the badges, you'd want the real badges, not the AN offering. Hopefully someone will start making them again - at least a run of them. Otherwise, ebay is about it...:(

My experience is that the tailpiece badge is not available. I tried all sources including British Cycle, Norvil & Walridge.

The tank badges were available recently from Walridge.

Note that the tailpiece badge is smaller than the tank badges, which are too large for the raised ring on top of the tailpiece.

One other small detail: the 1968 Commando was not called a Fastback. There was only one model in 1968, the first year for the Commando & that's the one you are working with. It was simply called the Commando. The Fastback designation came in 1969 when other models were added to the Commando line-up.

Thanks Stephen. I checked with Walridge and the type that they have are also the flexible peel-n-stick type.

Sorry about that.
When I had tried them 2 years ago they were the hard plastic badges with an adhesive backing.
