Hello all,
I am about to purchase a new chain from the chain man. I have a note from I don't know whom that the chain is a 530 99 link chain.
Can anyone verify this?

Thanks,
Ed

Roy Bacon quotes: For G15, G15CSR and N15CS: 5/8 x 3/8 98 pitches...
Hope this helps.
Although elsewhere he lists: G15 (only) as 97 links

Order a chain with more links than it's likely to need plus a half link (so the chain has an odd number of links to begin with) then shorten the chain by removing links or the half-link as required.

Thank you LAB. To clarify, If I assume I need a 99 link chain, do you recommend I order a 100 + 1/2 link? Is this a specification that Jason will understand?

A chain with a 'half-link' has an odd number of links (99, 101, 103, etc. links) therefore, that's what you'd need to order if there's the possibility that the correct length chain should be 99 links.

Make sure the chain you order is sufficiently long enough to be able to remove either the half-link (the chain will then have an even number of links) or full links (making it two, four, six, etc. 'links' shorter).

All clear now LAB.

Thanks so much.

Further note. Depending on how the half-link is attached to the chain it may be necessary to remove three pitches instead of only one to remove the half-link.

The photo below was sent to me by Andy the previous Chain Man showing the half-link correctly fitted (according to him) and which would require three pitches to be removed unlike the "wrong" example on the right. Presumably, Jason connects the half-link as Andy did.

According to the spares list & service manual:
Countershaft sprocket 17T (G15CS, G15Mk2 s/car) : Secondary chain length 97 pitches
Countershaft sprocket 19T (G15CSR, G15Mk2 solo): Secondary chain length 98 pitches
