1966 Atlas Gauges and Parts Question

My father recently acquired an Atlas and asked me to find the missing parts. So far things have been fairly straightforward but I need some help to cross of the last few items on my list.

What I need to know is what do I look for when I'm trying to purchase a set of gauges. The originals and their mounting bracket is missing and I haven't been able to find the actual part numbers and as of now, I'm not even sure what the face is supposed to look like.

I've also had some trouble locating some of the metal parts. Does anyone make repop headlight ears, chainguards, and top motor mount brackets for the Atlas or am I stuck waiting for somebody dismantling a bike to put them on eBay?

EDIT: Fair Spares and BritishOnly DO have chainguards and head steadies as I now know to call them, I was using the wrong keywords. I also think I found the gauge mounting bracket. Can anyone verify that 030358 is correct for the Atlas?

I can't help with part numbres at the moment, but DomiRacer / Accessory Mart hasd plenty of parts for the older Norton variants.

Yes, 030358 is listed for '66-'68 Atlas.

For Atlas parts, try:

'66 Atlas (MPH) speedo is a Smiths SSM3001/00 (Norton part 030258), and tach is RSM3003/00 (Norton part 030391) which would be similar to these replica items.

There is someone in ebay selling Indian made copies for very resonable prices, new for as little as $20.

Atlas speedo is a Smiths grey face 120mph unit and does not have a trip metre, the rev counter is a grey face 8000rpm unit.

Sorry to dig up this old thread....

My tachometer seized up on my 1966 Norton Atlas and I came across this thread. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the RSM 3003/00 030391 tach is a 2:1 ratio. There are no Grey Face replicas with a 2:1 ratio. The replica picture you posted above is a 4:1 ratio. Does anyone know if there's a Grey Face 2:1 out there? Is it possible to calibrate the 4:1 replicas to work with 2:1 tach drives?

Thanks.

BEWARE :!: :!: :!:

The Indian made ones I believe are 3 1/2 inch diameter clock faces and not 3 inch-and no matter what they say-the new Indian ones are NOT chronometric clocks

Yeah, I bought one of those on Ebay not because I ever wanted to use it, but I was curious about a new gauge that is less than $30 including shipping all the way from India. The quality is definitely not very good... and there is no way I'd put it on a bike. The chronometric one that I got doesn't accept a standard tach cable either. I've never tested it and have no idea if it ever works.

I bought a speedo intended for an Indian Enfield, as a kit of speedo, cable and drive unit. $50 inc shipping.
Its 3", and doesn't look like anything else. (not dressed up as a chronometric).
While I haven't tried it on the road, on my old Enfield it does work if fitted up and the bike run on the stand.
Without examining the insides, it all looks well made from the outside.
And you see Enfields with big recorded mileages, so some speedos must work.

It has a big wodge of wiring out the back though, and lights for neutral/high beam/blinkers.
With the wires removed and a change of face, could pretend its a chronometric... (?).
The cable and drive unit are different fittings though.
And it only goes up to 100 mph...

I am working on a friend's pre unit Triumph T110, it has one of those repro speedos from e-bay vendor Enfield County. I pushed the bike outside on a sunny day and the dial on the instrument melted and bent down at the front and back after about 20 minutes in the sun! It now looks like a Salvador Dali painting.

Would that be a Salvador Diali then?
