Well I went ahead and did it recently, I have purchased another 650SS.
This was my first big bike in the early 80's, and although I do have other classic machines, I always really wanted another one, some day. It was purchased off our local selling website here in New Zealand, it was a quick buy, because all the photo's showed a very correct/original machine, that had recently been "done up".
I have not been disappointed as apart from minor fettling, "hey we all enjoy that", it is a superb machine.
It is a first kick starter, very quiet mechanically and rides better than I can ever remember of my old machine.
So I am back in the fold with in my opinion the best of the Dommies, so my Mk111 Commando had better watch out!
As the mileage increases I am sure to start being a part of this forum.

They are a great bike, light handling and quick revving.
I use my 650ss on backroads around the Fraser Valley. Our backroads are closest thing to UK B roads that we have. For that type of riding it is ideal. For higher mileage tours through the Mountains, the MK3 is still preferred, so don't sell the MK3 just yet. The estart, extra torque and smoothness at higher speeds are pretty nice too.
