My guess is that he did not get his money back, or if he did then just so. It is interesting to me that the alloy tank/side covers probably cost less than sourcing new/used steel parts and then paying for paint, a theme I'll remember when I do my next brit bike...

At $4.5K for a complete engine rebuild, plus parts, he probably has $7-8K in the engine. So yeah, probably didn't make any money on the deal. I'm sure it's a nice bike though.

Amazing if it actually goes through. I've seen a lot of high dollar sales fall through over the years when payment is due on ebay and a re list follows shortly.

Thanks for the info illf8ed. That does make some sense. I have sold a few restored bikes to Australia in the past. I am not at all certain that it is that common for a buyer to find a seller at the right time. But anyone who has gone this far has to see this as a happy ending. Bikes like this are never done and rarely completely sorted but it is good to see that that didn’t stop the buyer from seeing the value of being moved along the path enough to warrant the interest needed to punch the button. Will I go out and go overboard on my next restoration? I don’t think so, but there is hope.

Nice bike, wheels are a bit on the 'blingy' side for me but very nice right enough. The tank looks very much like one of the Manx tanks made by The Tank Shop in Dumfries in Scotland, amongst lots of other stuff he also makes half fairings from aluminium, they look stunning. http://www.thetankshop.com/.
In picture No. 14 there is a feed/ breather (?) hose coming from the rocker spindle cover on the r/hand side of the bike, can anyone tell me the purpose of it please?

I saw the bike this last Sunday, in Mr. Taggert's collection/garage in Ojai, CA.

It is well done in every respect; compared to other new bikes one might buy, it was bought at a fair price.

Short stroke too.

Rearsets appear to be Norvil, but he deleted the shift linkage and opted for the reversed lever. I have these with the linkage on my bike and like them.
