Can anything be done about my Mk3 clutch adjuster (other than selling a kidney to buy a new switchblock.)

I'm not sure - it's what was on the bike when I purchased it.

That wouldn't cure the problem. As others have said that is the wrong (Japanese?) adjuster.
The sleeve should slide inside the bracket and the adjuster wheel holds the adjustment by moving it 180 degrees at a time.

I don't understand the cost issue. This is a ten dollar (US) part. Maybe $20 with shipping?

I thought a perch was a fish. Very tasty grilled with butter, but lots of little bones.
