Visiting my buddie's Land Rover shop, I spied this jewel:

Compared to the Chinese junk radiators (yes, I know it's an intercooler, thanks) I've bought on evilbay, it's well designed and fabbed.

Not really I have a dual cab TD5 and if has a good size intercooler and it gets up and goes its no slouch.

Ahhh, that’s different.

I was thinking of ex works quality.…
Pretty sure, the original intercoolers are in short supply here (the TDI's are rare, most were petrol), so probably not a tuner/hot rod thing, but rather just a source in this case

TDI's were never imported here. The engine in Johnny's and mine were both sourced by a friend in the UK and shipped over. Conversion from a gas to diesel is not a job to be taken lightly. John is an expert at it now, just in time for the 25 year exemption rule on vehicle imports to kick in so any old Rover Defender can be brought in without going through safety and emission certification.

Driven countless Land Rovers over many years in the military. Cannot remember ever being let down by one, no matter where I was in the world. Some workhorse!

Much like a Norton or BSA, a Defender or Series Rover is rugged and very dependable once sorted and properly maintained. I would not drive one of the newer electronic laden luxo wagons if it was given to me. Far too much useless shyte to go expensively wrong.

Started with LR way back early 70’s , since the 80’s has been jeeps with a couple 4x4 Ford trucks , the CJ7’s and the ‘96 Cherokee with the straight six were all very capable and reliable ….
