Hi Jerry I found the stock solo seat to be very uncomfortable on my Thruxton but I ordered a dual comfort seat when I brought mine for the wife and for my throw over leather saddle bags when needed to use them but for 3 week while the stock seat was on my bottom suffered after 2hrs in the saddle, the comfort seat is so much better than the stock seat and I have done two 15 hour runs in the saddle only stopping for fuel, feed/drink and stretch, my arms and bottom where good but legs were a bit sore on the last 3 hrs on the home run (15hrs one way, 2 days on the piss and 15hrs return trip home) done this on 2 occasions on the 1200 Thruxton and once on the 900 Thruxton.
I am 64 and I find my Thruxton S is very good on long distant runs but the S suspension is a bit better for long travel than with the R suspension one of the reasons I went with the S model at the time, but I am running Ikon shocks on the back and fairing which was already installed on the Thruxton but I replaced the low clip on handle bars for the 2" higher stock clip on bars and the dual comfort seat, its a great bike for long distant and all day riding, there are also other options for handle bars and better seats as the smooth running 1200s are great for clocking over the miles if set up right.
I removed the rear foot pegs off the old 900 Thruxton and put them on the 1200 for the wife with a little modification, the stock seat on the 900 Thruxton was so much better than the 1200 stock seat.
