03.4078 cable clips

for the tail light wiring. Holds the wires tight to the bottom of the rear fender, fitting between the fender mounting bolt nut and the fender itself.

I used plastic 'P' clips, for both the wires and the oil tank vent line.

These cable clips are not required for a P11. They appear to be for a steel fendered P11A and later.
You will need the appropriate rubber cable clips for attaching tail lite harness to the rear frame loop

p400 do you have a part number for these? Or a Picture? I have a P11 Ranger.

It would seem to me that these clips would used on a P11A Ranger as Bill informs......on the underside of the rear steel fender to hold the harness running to the taillight up against the underside of the fender until the harness comes thru the fender (probably a grommet) and into the large cast taillight assembly.
Rubber cable clips (possibly John Bull style) are used on the P11 exposed taillight/brakelight harness, coming back the left side fender/frame loop and plugging into the exposed taillight wires.

Yes, I agree. On the P11, the harness was clipped to the loop with the small john bull ties, as the intention was the rear tail light/license plate assembly would be removed for competition. The bullet connectors would stay strapped to the loop while the assembly was stowed away during the race.

With the P11A and Ranger, the tail light assembly is not designed to be removed at a meet, so clipping the harness to the underside of the mudguard would require permanent clips and a grommet through the routing hole in the mudguard.

I used the plastic P-clips because they work well without damaging the wires, though I see no reason why you should not use the metal J-clips.

Remind me when I go to Barber this year, and I'll take a picture of the rear wiring on the P11A that is on display there (I already know there are some discrepancies on this bike, and have discussed them with Mr. Slark)

Hi BillT,
I was at Barber in July with my Brother-in-law on a bike trip. I found some discrepancies also:
03.4078 cable clips

Tail Light Details.
03.4078 cable clips

Is that a grommet at the front of the rear fender?
03.4078 cable clips

No zener on the heat sink that I can see,
03.4078 cable clips

missing some harness wires to the rear tail light and the bottom bolt/ washer for the tail light housing is missing.
03.4078 cable clips

not the correct bolts for the license plate holder, These should be domed, I think?

I tried to get a lot of detailed shots of all the bolts and nut direction of fitment to the bike. I think the electric hookup has some issues.
Cheers,

Yes, sir,

There are some discrepancies on the bike on display. The fender is actually a Ranger fender. I assume the grommet is used as a buffer to keep from rubbing on the P11A seat. On a Ranger, there is a tab brazed to the crossover behind the oil tank that is used to bolt the front of the fender to the bike. The Ranger seat is the same pan used on late G15/N15s (with different mounting tabs). On a P11A, the fender SHOULD end at the loop that secures the rear of the seat. I hadn't noticed that the wiring harness was not complete.
