The real cost of lockdowns….

Yep that's exactly what happened
I can't remember the exact figures but in the UK people that died without a pre existing condition were extremely low
This was highlighted when someone did a freedom of information request
Plus the age of people dying was above the average age of death (obviously still very sad)
 
Anti-depressant drugs can play havoc on a persons mind and doctor seem to think it will keep people in control, not and some people just can't handle break ups or major changes in their lives and it how we handle lock downs at the time, myself just kept busy, my whole inside of my house I renovated room by room, had plenty up in the shed to keep me busy and my gardens where a savior, but had a new snooker table on order and two days before delivery lock down started so I had to wait longer.
I am retired and each fortnight we live on a tight budget but lock downs we saved a bit of money to pay for the renos in the house so worked for me and the wife, but not riding the bikes was a bit hard.
But our leaders did everything wrong but it was the unknown and even the experts got it wrong, just no one knew and it spread the world so quickly, but the rules have changed but I still take precautions, I didn't get covid and I don't want to, attitudes have changed but there is still a risk as it hasn't gone away, it's just now the numbers not being reported of hospitalization or deaths.

I’m sorry for your family’s loss , I hadn’t meant to sound flippant , I was referring to our choice here in Canada , you can ask for a Dr. to end your suffering when there is no hope of recovery …..
 
Yes the shed, the bikes, the beers and music all up in the shed and now the snooker table under the awning off the shed and the full size slot car track that takes up over 1/4 of my shed, mates that drop around, I am set up for anything that is thrown at me, oooh and the wife she leaves me alone she does her thing up in the house, works great for both of us, except for one minor problem one mate who doesn't like to put his hands in his pockets for his share of the beers, well I put a stop to that I just drink in front of him now and he soon got the hint, very rarely visits now, I don't mind sharing but some just take a bit of advantage of my hospitality even if I known him all my life.
But most of my mates that come around normally drink their own brand, most drink gold beer (light beer) than what I drink.

...there was this one eve in April '20, the "Great Plague of '19" was fully realized. My co-worker came up from South of Boston, and with our "Essential Worker" placards taped on the screens, we did 120 miles, on the winding, wooded back roads that began as paths 350 years ago.
He had his Viffer800, I rode the RZ350.
Traffic was non-existant.
Only the whitetail deer were joining us on the road.
It reminded us both of riding the circuit at the Northwest 200. 🏍️💨
That was an opportunity that likely won't be available again soon.

But I did feel sorry for the two ladies that were fined £200 each
Their crime was having an illegal picnic in the park
The fact that they both had takeaway mugs of coffee and sat on a park bench in the open made it illegal!!
I really don't know where to start on that one

Most of us simply are unaware of just how small minded, ego driven and power hungry office holders are.
If you want a good example, try School Board Members. They don't get paid. What then is left to replace
the monetary boost? Ability to tell others what to do. As elected office becomes paid and power of it increased, do you think it attracts people who are better than the Board Member?

It was worse than that if you remember…

First the police wanted to prosecute them for being an ‘unreasonable’ distance from home.

But the women pointed out that they lived in different directions and they thought this was a reasonable distance to meet. And that two people were allowed to meet. So all was good.

It was then that the copper said ‘but you have coffee, that makes this a picnic, and picnics are illegal’!

And IRRC this involved 5 coppers in 3 vehicles in the ‘swoop’!

The case was dropped in the end. But it did show how some coppers loved to take on the role of judge, jury and executioner and they certainly forgot their role in society !

When you start trying to prosecute based on vague notions like ‘a reasonable distance’ the whole basis of the legal system is undermined IMO. Imagine being taken to caught for speeding when there was no speed trap, no speed limit, and no harm done… but the copper says it was ‘an unreasonable speed’ !?

Yep I can't remember all the details
I remember someone being done for walking on the beach eating an ice cream etc etc
The world turned some sort of corner at that point
People snooping on each other
When did that happen before 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Understood. My plan is, when I can no longer function , I will sit in my garage with a bottle of 15 year old Glenlivet looking at my bikes and remembering. At some point close the doors and fire one up.....

Funny thing about "essential workers". I work in a somewhat retail environment and we had NO restrictions and no way out of not coming in. Same with my wife, all the workers in the field got to work from home (including the boss who was/is TERRIFIED of covid) but the support staff all had to report in every day. In the end everyone BUT the support staff got raises and retention bonuses for "toughing it out" during the GREAT PLAUGE/HOAX of 19.
 
My favourite was the Welsh (and other) police using drones to ‘catch’ hikers breaking the lockdown and isolation rules.

They were SO isolated that they could only be found by drone… exactly who were they going to (possibly) infect ?!?
 
Once you get people to comply with a mask rule in a pub or restaurant where you have to wear a mask when you stand up but not when seated
Or whatever the hell the rules were

My local pub here in New Hampshire had to put plastic dividers between every two bar stools, as if that would make any difference. A pair of escapees (Karens) from a state further south of us were absolutely incensed when the dividers were finally taken down and the bar allowed to operate at full capacity again. They are EVERYWHERE.
