Like the tinkle tinkle of gears exiting at the speed of sound and embedding themselves in the asphalt sound? I hate that!
Fortunately its not a habit.

I did get it into the 6k+ range in 4th for a bit shortly after. Probaby not good either.
Sure was fun tho!!!

Lift that front tire yet?

That's funny. Not on purpose! When I first got it I had trouble getting used to the grippy clutch. Would either stall or pop mini wheelies leaving a stop. Use to it now. The front tire does get pretty light feeling when im getting on it. If I didn't have a bum stop seat id have ended up ground this last time out!

Let me clarify. I shifted from 1st to 2nd at 6k. I didn't pull the clutch rev to 6 and pop it.just a quick 1st to 2nd.

Out riding and heard a noise haven't heard ol gurtrude make before... strange chirp noise from the rear tire at 6k 1st to 2nd gear shift! Hmmm. Is this normal...???!! Hahahahahahahahahah!

Absolutely yes it is normal on proper running 750. This worried me for a time, getting the chrip and hesitation in acceleration to get to hwy speed entering on a steep. Thought clutch at first but finally figured out I had to ease off some before shit to get best thrust away from full speed surprise traffic around the bend below. Beware doing that if leaned good, feel it out to know to use or avoid.

Well I guess you got the basic 10% improvement that anyone can feel, cool.
Now use up the internals and make vendors happy, what ya think ya live forever?

Not forever... just once. Back tire chirp, no lag, accelerated right up to 6 again and into 3rd then 6 again and 4th. Got there quick. Dont know about 10%, but definitely considerable increase in power over Boyer. Remember, I had a faulty plug wire before too! So that might come into play here.

Ok misfiring connection with Boyer is not fair comparison. Will have to wait for others reports then or assume your lying through your teeth to defend your spending spree : ) Just remember the extra spunk in wet turns. If good grip conditions in right place front can lift some topping out near red line in 1st and 2nd.

Im not a crazy rider. I just cruise. Today I was just putting her through her paces to see bow she did with the new ign. I don't have the ride it like you stole it mentality. I like my bike and the last thing I want to do is blow it up or wreck.

Not looking to one up or give false testimony. Im sure anyone else will have similar results with this system. I wouldn't say it if it wern't true.

Yep sir 'not crazy' Chris, this is similar to my discovery process on Combats in good tune. Just worked so well hot rod phenomena showed up out the blue, to both please me and scare me at once. No need or desire to rev up and jerk loads on a frail Commando to show off, just smooth but quick throttle use and easy slight clutch depress to snick up shifts like an automatic. Only time I got the front to lift while sideways in turns was the last day out before complete tear down for leaks and smoke and expected part wear refreshment, figured nothing to lose, so held WOT to a bit over 7000 before shifts, for the surprise hit of 2S cam kicking in extra piston rush ~6800 on.

I too had to get used to the committed launch offs, even feathering clutch and power not to jerk stuff, just get going decently with traffic closing in. Even in hopped up Ms Peel which indeed would rush out from under if butt not set in seat and bars gripped hard first on throttle ups - never gave surprise pop ups, so suspect you got some work to do to clutch train too. I did get surprise pop ups I hated on my SV650, on days I'd had a flat on Peel and just hopped on SV to go to work normally legally, because I Habitually Always Slow WayT.F.UP for all blinds, and SV would pop up, as I still geared to G sensations of Peel just to get back to curise speed. The other pisser SV did was surprise stoppies I hated, just going by the sense of easy pull downs for all the Blinds Peel allowed not even braking hard. When really testing Peel against sports bikes, I found they had same limits to acceleration and decelerations as I got on SV650, much to my great glee.

If not for rod links on Peel handling insane lean and grip, I'd be totally happy with just Boyer or better points peformance and remain in normal Cdo circles, but as I got so much harsh reactions from sports bikers and ended up embrassing them so often so easy, Peel gets more power to put in leans and straights, with 10.5 CR + boost on 91 octane detonation taboo. I hope 4 custom curves will allow me to get away with it, both on and off road and with and w/o the Drouin belt on. I found if I can get rear lose before turns I can spend rest of the turn trying to save the crash by easing up the loads : )
I'm crazy but seek no cure, just more crazy making G's

Hobot- The only problem with the clutch was the nut behind the wheel. Other than a pesky primary leak the bike is in good running order.

ERRR, you dad burn optical triggered Braggart!
Much as I love to taste the peaks of power and handling, by and large to me Commandos are more for Harley like short shifting soothing low rpm smoothies.
Appreciate the insights on initial timing. Bring back some neat riding tales a long time and keep the nose on the grind stone.

I ride it every day! Can't get enough. Haven't driven my truck since I bought her. Put about 20 miles on it today. Thinking im gonna bump another 1.5°out of it. ( Backfired thru the Carbs infront of the coffee shop today. Nice puff of grey smoke and pop for the ladies. ) Thinkin it'll pick her up a bit more. Ride, tweek, repeat. 1.5° more will put me about 5°-5.5° retarded from my initial set point. Still, I am very pleased with the smoothness of the motor now. Good pickup through out. Caught myself speeding a couple times and had to slow it down. Haven't changed anything else. The volt regulator is still on the shelf. I wont install it till I get the timing set just right. Trying to keep the variables to a minimum.

Adjusted timing. Still kicks back when cold. Winds at 25 and gusts up to 50 today, so didn't ride far. Thinking ill just leave it alone and install selector switch to see if that helps with cold starts.

Oh my Chris that is what I had and slowly working back to living in Commando heaven again. On 2 Combat is they weren't idling nice 1st kick I knew better than kick again until something turned on or reconnected, then 1 kick and off into wild blue yonder when the rickety crickety biplane lifts off and disappears.

What was initial setting? Combats like it best ~28'. Wonder if your real life timing needs might not match the dyno derived ones, so might like a tweak in the initial rise. As I understand it, the curve is adjustable with the program, the cable and a 'puter. I'm looking over your shoulder for the trial and error, this and that tinkering to optimize our joy rides and leave the ladies tingling on the Good [Sonic] Vibrations.

I can't ride in cages w/o feeling each turn and new vista as if I was back on a Commando. I'm 24/7 steeped in Commando sensation flashbacks. Thanks for another hit to leave me high on what's in the works.

Chris, I don't know if you've already done this, but you might want to check what the voltage is at the ignition before starting. The marks on the primary aren't the most reliable, but you might want to strobe it at idle and check it with Fred. Does he give graphs for the two curves he's using? It's gusting 40knts up here today too. Sheesh.

I wouldn't start hillbilly'in a new unit just yet- double check everything - valves/sparkplug gaps - it shouldn't kick back -

like bpatton said also check connections on ignition (including on the ignition switch itself as a loose/worn worn wire will cause this problem too) - low voltage at unit with any loose connector will cause this too

my $100 pazon doesn't kickback and the bike runs beautiful - but i once some grit in the ignition switch and it kickbacked like a bitch - some contact cleaner, fixed!

The more threads I read on expensive EI, the more grateful I am for the cheap simple pazons I run. Cheap, easier to set up and not any issues in years.

i hear you talking there brother ( in a hulk hogan voice!)

If I've said it once I've it a hundred times, That Pazon's got one smoooooooth curve.

All voltages are good, ignition switch and connections are good. Reworked/repaired wiring right after i bought it. I work with power and engine controlls for a living. If i can start-up, trouble shoot and repair 480v, 5kv, and 15kv automatic transfer switches and paralleling switchgear at hospitals, data centers and military bases etc., i think i can handle an EI.

Hooked up curve selection through unused right hand switches. Started no problem in the moderate setting. There is a noticeable differance between the curves. I prefer the advanced curve, it seems to deliver more power throughout and the motor runs smoother than ever. Im DEFINITELY not going back to the Boyer.

HILLBILLY??? C'mon dude! I might be a country boy, but really?

Let's see how many days have you been trying to get a handle on the EI?
