Went out to start ol gurtrude and had no luck. Dug in a bit and found that the ds plug wire was not fully plugged into the coil. Resulting arcing and sparking under the rubber cap turned the connection to green crystalline dusty stuff and killed the coil. Rather than buy a new coil and hope the Boyer unit is still good, I figure ill take one for the team and give the power arc ign a shot. Gonna order it and some other goodies as soon as I can remember where I hid my credit card. Wish me luck. Ill let you all know how it goes. Fingers x'd! :?

Crappy thing is I had that $ set aside for the landsdowns. Guess I gotta work some overtime.
I believe your priorities are correct. Thank you for your selfless dedication, you poor bastard. :D :D :D

I'm sure it will work really well. Fred and Ella wouldn't sell something that didn't work well. I'm saving up for one myself. I like the idea of being able to program it, and having a rev limiter. Plus it operates down to 6V, i need that way too often. Don't get me started on batteries.

Chris I bit the bullet a couple years ago, just no motor yet to install it on, hoping someone else would beat me to it and hold my hand when my turn comes up. I have not found an ignition system with better specs and technology, not even counting the programmable 3 spark per hit and selectable curves feature.
I'm going to start off with the TriSpark curve and shot for the self stabilizing idle feature.

Power arc guinnea pig.

They'll also stand behind it.
Man, that Pazon in one smooth curve. I love it!

Decided to throw caution to the wind and ordered the lansdown dampeners too! Credit cards are evil!!!! Going to go hide it again. What's that like $800+ in 20 minutes!

At least you purchased two functional performance and reliability items. Not bits of leather and chrome!!!

So.... you're saying I shouldn't order the fringed saddle bags from leatherup? Cause I think theyll go real good with that chrome skull cup holder... :D

This s going to be a long one. Glad someone has offered to step up and be the first. I had planned on it, but bought a nice fireflake blue tank and side covers. so I'm broke for a bit, but plan on trying one after the 300 page report.:D

hey to all!

this ignition system looks fine and seems that installation is very easy....

but this Power Arc ignition works with an optical-sensor, right?

is this optical-sensor sensitive if it gets dirty/oily?
i.e. when points seal gets untight....

have a nice day,
chris

If its anything like what im thinking, yes. But should be easy to clean with a cloth or q-tip and glass cleaner?
Ran mallory unilite dizzies ( optical pick up) on a few of my cars and had no major issues. Would clean with a q-tip and windex when I changed plugs. Way I figure it, nothings faster than light! No mechanical parts to slow signal or fail. K.I.S.S.

Optical sensor is the best there is to resist Everything there is. Its very old technology only now catching up with us ancient boaters that points to magnetic triggers got polluted with conductive grime. Not a worry at all on the optical slots as likely could put tape over slots and the infra red bead would still register.
Clean it for nice photo's but no need just to keep spark strong and steady.

Lasers and Masers not yet on the market but already made workable, death ray is shot into cylinder to lit off a whole streak of flame front all the way across the chamber! Misfire and radiation leaks at such hi voltage may sterilize us or mutate offspring down the road of course.

I had long heated discussion about detonation and if answer is true we should be able to get full torque spark timing on cheap gas with dialing in 3 sparks per hit in our old air cooled twins. i hope to get a knock sensor or just stethoscope to listen for detonation then diddle the spark graph till I don't. Also will have a curve that makes power sluggish to lug under good throttle w/o stalling to creep up wet grass slopes. Have yet to get and set up lap top to work the thing.
But comes with baseline curves to get safely started.

I have my patented (ok not really) idea, wait for it ..... piezo electric spark plugs, fired by compression at the perfect moment.
