Ash is in hospital

Got the new car today...Our youngest daughter came around this afternoon with her new friend, she gave Debra the go around for all the controls inside the car, keyless ignition and push button start, has all the gismos, the owner manual is as thick as a bible over 700 pages and another book just for the navigation system...
6 months in, and I STILL can't get used to Sally's Lexus sedan that she bought slightly used from her sister.

*&^%$#@ thing keeps trying to drive itself while I AM TRYING TO DRIVE IT!

I set the cruise on 80, if there is a car on the same road a mile ahead, it slows to 50.

I'm cruising along near the lane stripe and the bloody thing jerks over 5 feet so I won't cross it.

NO THANK YOU! I'll stick to my 10-year-old truck, it's quite nice enough, much nicer than the one I was perfectly happy with that was 20 years old and has just under a quarter-million miles...

Yeah that is what I am worried about but the good thing most of all that stuff can be turned off on this Honda and only use the stuff you might want to use as the car is 6 years old, the newer Honda's might be different and can't turn that stuff off.
Reading the bible size manual it took 500 pages of all the BS they write in owners manuals before I got to the main stuff of starting the car and the important stuff about driving it, I still got 200 pages to go and coming up to the stuff about maintenance, the important stuff, then once I read that I got to read up on the navigation system, I prob will get more lost using that GPS system than when I never had to use one before, I always knew where I was going, when riding the bikes I found a lot of great riding roads being lost lol.
But as I am now getting older and the Honda to us is a luxury car and down the road I am looking at doing a few long trips in it, the good thing as well has a tow bar so it will tow the trailer that I have set up for camping and being a station wagon it be good for a comfortable bed in the back if we need to stop overnight anywhere, on long trips in the old Landy rolling the swag out in the back tray I done many of times.
I driven trucks, old cars and older 4x4s all my life, it's about time to live life a bit more comfortable and is also the first auto that I have ever owned, it also has sports drive so that be interesting and being turbo could be fun.
My 2016 Thruxton had all the gismos on it and was always kept in sport mode it was a fun bike to ride and handle as near as good as the light weight Commando/Featherbed with a bit more HP, I miss that bike, but I enjoyed the Norton more so that will do me, just got to watch out for them bloody Rab 4, they bite.

When all else fails read the owners manual.
Took 500 pages before I got to the good stuff of starting, driving etc, the first 500 pages was just the usual safety, seat belts, child restraints etc, I still have 200+ pages to go but got a headache reading it all, next section is maintenance, still got to find the ejector seat button lol.
It's been raining since we got the car so haven't taken it out yet, but this afternoon a drive over to the peg leg makers to get my new leg and then on the way home stop at our favorite sea food shop for a lovely sea food dinner.
My doctor contacted me yesterday at lunch time and the insurer OT person contacted her about me learning to drive again once the mod is done to the accelerator pedal, so she phoned me up to see how I will go and told her I am so hanging to drive again so she signed the paperwork for me to go ahead to learn to use my left leg/foot to drive again once the dual accelerator pedal is installed, the CTP insurer is paying for the mod.
Be good having my freedom back again, 5 1/2 month relying on others to get around as well taxi's/Uber, I rather pay for fuel and go wherever I want but it be a little while yet before it happens for me, so Debra is my taxi driver till that happens, but she have to take it easy till she gets to know all the bells and whistles are lol.
Next year when all rehab is over and Debra has healed right up we be planning a few trips away we have 12 months to make up for, and the first trip be a camping trip to our favorite beach side camping ground up at Rainbow Beach/Inskip Point for a week or 2, love that place but up there in the off peck season when its quieter.
Getting closer 3 hrs to go to get my new leg, but who's counting lol, my rehab phoned up this morning to see if I got my new leg yet and told them this afternoon so a session up at rehab tomorrow afternoon, and next week be 3 rehab sessions as well a app up at the hospital for a check up on the leg amputation where I spent 24 days recovery from the big cut so a busy week ahead.
Well it gets me out of the house, the amputee rehab sends me a cab for my sessions up at the hospital but the other visit have to take the bus but tomorrow will try to arrange a rehab session for the same day as the check up app.
Things are starting to fall in place to getting back to a near normal life again and glad it's going quicker than it has as I could have been waiting 12 months or more for a leg if the CTP insurer wasn't on board.

Well some more good news for me, I can't believe how things are starting to fall into place, got my new leg this afternoon, Debra drove the new car she did OK for a old woman lol, we went out for fish and chip late afternoon dinner and just as I got home a phone call from the insurer OT person and she got the approval from my doctor to drive again, she also has approval from Suncorp CTP insurer to pay for driving lessons for my left leg/foot control driving and when I concur that they will pay for my car to get mod for dual accelerator pedal to be installed in the new car.
I am so happy for this to happen but still have a little wait as the first lesson is on the 29th of June as the dual car is booked out till then.
I have to play by the rules as this is what amputees have to go through and once pass insurance will cover me for driving with a missing leg, bloody rules, but I be finding a quiet place and do some driving before that, prepare before the lessons lol.
By the way my new leg is powered by Norton will take pics soon.

Went through the same thing with my wifes Audi. Manual is 3 inches thick and hard to get through. The car still does stuff I dont think I commanded it to do. Ill take my Ford F150 or my analog Norton any day.
