Can you give me tips on how to get my stuck 850 cylinder head off after all 10 head fasrteners are removed ?

I did the reading! All 10 fasteners are definitely off but it won't come loose.
I did kick the start lever a few times.
I did screw in the exhaust rosettes and then give them a whack with a hammer vertically upwards (plus wood in between to stop damage) and still no luck.

As an idea, I could crank the Alton electric starter for a few seconds. But I would put a couple of cylinder head bolts loosely back in to hold it in case it does come loose.

Has anyone some other ideas ...??

Thanks
Dennis

Nothing should stop it assuming you still have the rockers installed - the pushrods will provide a lot of force. The head basically sits there unless some dummy glued it on.

i left it sitting positioned with an inlet valve open so maybe overnight the force will separate the head from the cylinders....

I don't know what previous owner used on the head gasket.

If the open inlet valve hasn't popped the head up by tomorrow, I could adjust all the valve clearances to negative so that all valve springs get tensioned a bit, in addition to the inlet already open. but I will have to check a chart that I won't foul any valves on each other by doing that.

Just turn the engine so a different valve is open.

BTW, are you sure the head has not popped up at an angle? They need to be parallel to the cylinders to come off.

A long shot but make sure the previous owner didn't double nut one of the studs.
If the PO used pliobond on the head gasket it can be tough to separate the two.
