I am much happier with my Thruxton since I raised the bars. Had a nice ride out today…

These geezers sat on the Pillion , top whack . and used the saddle for a Knee Grip . to get out of the wind , they had a CHIN PAD . Wot yer put yer Chin on . there .

Wot youll do , if you hit a bridge , is chop your tounge off as you knock yourself out . Unless you put your chin on the pad beforehand . And close your jaw . Live & learn .

this Enables you to Tuck In , Tight . Unlike the modern monkey sail riding position .

Jerry, it looks like you changed the upper steering yoke. Did you need to change the clutch cable or the front brake hydraulic hose? Any electrical wiring?
I would like to hang keep the alloy upper yoke. I picked up a stock set of risers and plan on cutting them and adding material until it feels right. I am thinking up about 1 1/2" and back about 1 1/2". We'll see.

Hi Stephen, I am not sure how I missed this question (sorry). I purchased a kit which included the top yoke. I did change the clutch cable, but everything else was ok.

Very nice, Jerry. As I've aged, I've had to raised the bars on some of my bikes to get a comfortable riding position. I've also started lowering footpeg positions on some of them. When you get to that point I think you can be officially called old.:D

Hi Ken,

The Thruxton is still super uncomfortable. I rode a few hundred miles last week and i was completely destroyed after, even after raising the bars. Its mainly due to the osteoarthritis in my hands, cant put any weight there. I think i now need a more comfortable bike. At the moment my BSA is my most comfortable lol. I think a Harley Pan Am or Triumph Tiger 1200 might be in the future :)

I think the seat slants down at the front, which also puts extra weight on the wrists. With the stock setup, going downhill fast, then braking hard into a corner, puts a heavy load on the wrists, and makes the steering feel ponderous.

Yes, I agree. I do love the bike, just can’t ride it very far. I needed this bike 30 years ago lol.
