Yes, modern fuel can go off quickly. Can this new shit go off in 4 months ? Easy job , carb out tomorrow. I had everything spotless. Iuse +5 and add stabiliser. Getting fed up ! Cheers, Roy.
That's why I posted.Having installed “ethanal proof” lining in three tanks in the last 20 years, I opine the following:
2 were Caswells and have worked fine.
1 was POR-15. It failed miserably.
It is all about the prep work to clean and etch the tank interior.
I don’t believe I would ever install a tank sealer again. It is a mess if it fails, and they fail.
Your mileage may vary.
Good call. I had a friend that would call me like clockwork every few months because his T140 wouldn't run right and I'd clean out his idle jets (again.) Turned out it was his tank pealing from a dying Kreem coating. I actually checked for fuel contamination but it was so slight I missed it. I've had good luck with "Redkote" which is quite easy to work with and can be removed easily if you change your mind with acetone or MEK. Mine was actually coloured blue. That's why I posted.
Around 95, getting back into Nortons I purchase a nice Mark 3. Had many of the same issues.
It was a tank sealer peeling. Big mess. Had a company strip it out and clean it up.
Did a nice job, they are long gone....
What? Thats not possible per all the glass tank pundits out there! WELL DONE YOU!Been running a Caswell'd fiberglass tank using only "normal" (ethanol) gas for 17 years now with no issues at all. Stabil added to fuel for storage.
Must have been a good job, s that the Caswell binds to the whole inside surface. After my experience with a PR tank, I would not trust it without cutting the bottom out to ensure a good bonding surface. What? Thats not possible per all the glass tank pundits out there! WELL DONE YOU!
