Suspension adjustment

Just a small point but could you be restricting the air flow a wee bit.
Air entering fins at the wrong angle.

Could be, at least in theory, but I doubt it. Air flow is pretty turbulent there anyhow. In any case, I doubt such a small change in angle could have a significant effect. And the alternative is to have my nice, shiny CF fender bashing into it:(.

Hi Ken,
speaking of alternatives .... is it possible to fit a larger front mudguard to the 961 without interference problems? Anyone living in wet coastal areas might be far from satisfied by the short mudguard fitted by the factory? Sorry for off-topic question.

It’s a fair question Knut, the stock one looks very pretty... but catches naff all road grime...!

The engine catches it all instead...

That is a good question. But I don't have an answer. I have seen some alternative fenders available for the Ohlins superbike front forks, but I don't know if they are any better, or if they will fit the 961.

Suspension adjustment

Hello everyone, I've just got a 2024 model, spent a few hours yesterday on different sorts of roads, and found that in some situations it didn't feel as stable as it should. When I got home I looked at the suspension settings, and they were inconsistent to say the least. I've been looking for a set of starting settings, but everything I read must not apply to the 2024 model, for example people talk about 4 clicks being the range of one of the rear shock settings, on mine compression has 22 clicks range and rebound has 60 clicks range. I would really like to start from a recommended set of settings if anyone has one. Failing that, my plan is to go for 1/3 sag, and the damping settings all 1/3 of the way from softest.

Welcome, and congrats on your purchase!
Doesn’t it tell you the standard factory settings in the owners manual?

No, the owner's guide is poor, it tells you that it's all adjustable, but no indication of what it should be set to.
That is sad, I would have hoped that TVS/Norton furnished a better owners manual.
But to be honest, the Donington owners manual that I got with my 2013 CR was pretty much useless as well.
You need to purchase the shop manual to get the factory "suggested" correct sag/preload/compression/rebound settings.
But if you want the best settings for your weight, find a motorcycle shop that specializes in suspension settings.
They will tune the suspension to your actual requirements.

This was put on FB recently: owner had suspension set up from FTR Suspension ( England)
Forks:
Comp. 20 clicks out.
Rebound 14 out.
Preload 6mm.
This gave static sag 38mm, rider sag 40mm.

Rear: Comp. 1 out
Rebound 20 out
Preload 6 turns.
This gave static sag 10 mm. and rider sag 36mm.

It also quoted for softer fork springs as a future job.
No rider weight given. Rider happy with result.

Thank you, but I suspect that is with different rear shocks with 4 clicks range on the compression damping, mine has 22, but I can take that as being 1/4 of the range and start mine at 6.

Here are the standard Donington 961 settings from the shop manual for reference.
