Hi,

First time poster so please forgive my lack of knowledge! I’ve just bought the bike which was manufactured in 2014 and then put on display in an air conditioned office ever since. It has 5 miles on the clock (factory road test?) and has never been ridden or registered. It is in perfect condition and I’ve all the books/receipts and completed SVA (?) paperwork. I’m sure registering it will be a pain and I know I think it will need an MOT and insurance.

Reading about the potential issues I am going to check every fastener on the bike for the correct torque and try to preempt problems by

1.Fitting a primary breather kit if I can find one or make my own using the existing bolt if possible
2.Checking/changing starter motor and rocker cover gaskets (Any ideas where to get these)
3.Change the relays for Honda ones, not sure how many I need?
4.Change all fluids /oil and filter
5.Fit in line filter/valve thingy to oil feed (any recommendations?)
6. Change tyres and inner tubes (not sure of the sizes of the inner tubes or any recommended makes?)

Is there anything else I need to get me going? It has a new battery and runs quite quietly with the short exhausts.

I paid £7k for it including a brand new genuine Aluminium tank so I’m happy to take a risk with the potential problems.

Any help/thoughts would be greatly appreciated as I’m a car person and my current bike is a 2 stroke Greaves TFS so a little bit different other than maybe the oil leaks.

Thanks
David

You’re the guy off of FB right?

You got a freakin bargain’ there mate. The alloy tank alone is worth £2k+, so really the bike only cost you £5k !!

I’m gonna give you the same advice I did on FB… you have a brand new bike there and you are very much ‘quids in’ in terms of what you’ve spent. To maximise the ‘brand new bike’ benefits I would personally take the bike to Stu Bodicote for a thorough going over.

Stu knows these bikes inside out and knows exactly what gaskets, relays, etc to replace with what.

You’ll then have a brand new ‘Motorvated’ 961 that should bring you heaps of pleasure and minimal aggro.

BTW… did you manage to sort out the registration ?

Hi, yep that’s me. I haven’t got it registered yet, need to get it back to my house and motd etc. I was going to contact Stu but thought he was extremely busy, dealing with a bereavement and not taking on new work?
