TVS 961 RECALL....

My 961 should be retuned very soon, it is scheduled for the work to be done today. My guess early next week return at the latest.
 
According to some that have had their bikes picked up, they did not receive any form of paperwork or documentation during pick up. This seems very odd and unprofessional imho.

Who’s to say the bike isn’t being stolen?
Who’s documenting any pre or post damage?

Just seems odd that Norton and the shipping company are not providing the owners any kind of paperwork.

I think the factory should have sent an email to each owner with a phone number to call when the truck arrives to pick up the bike.
This way the owner can verify with the factory that all is on the up and up, and that the bike is not being jacked.

I was informed where the truck was coming from and at what time from Norton. 30 minutes out they called me to say the truck was on his way. He dutifully arrived on time.

I signed their paperwork and photographed their invoice.

What does everyone moan so much on Forums? Think positive, they are rectifying the bikes.

There is so much wrong in the world - this is a positive in my mind.

Glad you feel so confident. But the chap on fb didn’t feel so.
Who’s to say anyone couldn’t show up with a van with a business name on the side claiming to take your beloved bike in to Norton only to be stealing it. Just saying.
You realize in today’s times, crime is rampant and easy to get away with.
I’d most certainly would want reassurance.

Nobody said the bikes weren’t getting repairs when they arrive to the factory. This is simply a matter of who and when getting picked up.

I'm guessing you haven’t spent much time on the forum lately... it’s a full symphony of pissing, moaning, second-guessing, conspiracy theories, brand loyalty meltdowns, and vintage purism clashes — all playing at once. Let's not forget the worrywarts who see the sky is falling with every part that might break and the wild speculation, keyboard engineering, and the occasional existential crisis over oil viscosity. Lastly, there are the trolls from the Commando Forum who have too much free time and don't own or work on a 961. Basically, business as usual! Everyone’s either a mechanic, a philosopher, or a lawyer... and sometimes all three in the same post. But hey, that's part of the charm, right? I imagine many of the moaners are just like a Norton — loud, leaky, and slightly misfiring...Just saying.

Dude, if a fraudster is gonna go to those lengths to con you, then they could easily give you a fraudulent ‘receipt’ as well can’t they !?

The way the actual collection works is they book the collection in with you. They phone you to tell you they’re coming. They tell you the company name. They come to the address that you gave them. They have the paperwork with your name, address, bike registration number, VIN, etc.

So yes, a receipt would seem the proper thing to do, but it’s pretty immaterial IMO. It’s as safe as any collection you could arrange for anything.

Well at least I think it is… if my bike doesn’t come back you’ll have the last laugh !

Was sitting at work today when my phone rang. A friendly man said "I'm phoning to arrange to collect your Norton and take it to the factory". "why" I replied, "there's nothing wrong with it". "Don't you know what's happened?" he said. "Nope, no idea" I replied. I had not heard anything from Norton or anyone else about the recall and I don't habitually check this forum or keep in touch with other owners. "in that case" he said, "I can't tell you anything and Norton will contact you". Weird.
Its only after looking at this forum that I know what's going on. My Norton is a CR purchased in January 2024 and its now done 4000 miles.

That is a brilliant post and I agree with all. I haven't posted much in 12 years - except for the the last 12 days and the experience is exactly how you described. The strange part is all you are trying to do is explain and help other 961 owners.

Then contact Customer Care to see if your bike is affected, don't wait. Norton TVS are extremely helpful when you call.

BTW: The van collected my vehicle was a plain white van and as the pick up was as explained above

Nothing on their social media, no “we are writing to you” letters received, folks who are aware of the recall calling the factory getting no reply, then leaving a message (or messages) and not getting a callback, no official notification of which VIN numbers are in scope, many owners still unaware of the recall, DVLA recall website not showing a recall. Brand loyalty is waning big time.

Oh, but they do have a new drinks mug …

So you don't actually own a newer 961 judging by your signature and you are making assumptions from Social Media? You can't make this shit up on this Forum. I'm glad I joined here 12 years ago and didn't post - think I'll do the same again. So many know it alls, posting without facts.

BTW: I have called the factory three times. Twice an immediate response, third time, I left a message and they called back immediately. I just don't believe anything I read here.

I don't need what the hive says to make up an opinion, I think for myself.
