Do any of you gents have a Heidenau K34 tyre in 3.50x19" or 4.00x19". I would like to know the maximum width when fitted to a WM2 or WM3 rim. As tyres vary so much I presume they won't be exactly 3.5" & 4".

Matchless,
Look at some of the posts that Concours commented on as he is running a Heidenau tire. I am not sure what size but maybe be able to answer your question.

Thanks for that, but I've looked through his posts & can't find anything. Maybe he'll see this & chime in.

I have a K34 3.50 x 19 on a WM2 rim on my N15.
It measures 96.5 mm wide.
I'm thinking of fitting a K34 to the rear & a K44 to the front of the '64 Interceptor I'm building. Are they okay? I have always fitted Avons in the past, but as they are no longer made in Britain I no longer have any loyalty toward them.

If It's any use to you I have K34 350/18 on the rear and K34 325/18 on the front of my Kawasaki S3 and the bike is spot on , handling and grip. If anything it looks strange with the amount of tread there compared to something like a Road Rider. Just like the 70s when the bike was made.

Thanks Sam, that sounds good to me. I would have fitted an old style Roadrunner on the rear, but it seems that it's been discontinued. The Heidenaus look old school & will suit the bike.

I didn't know Roadrunners were discontinued, like you - now the Road Riders are no longer made in the UK I have no loyalty. I wonder what to fit to the big bikes BT46 maybe ?

I may continue to fit Roadriders to my Brit bike fleet as they handle well on them. Whilst I like to try new things it can sometimes be an expensive mistake. Two occasions spring to mind. Years ago when I was running the Hinckley Trident every day, I fitted a pair of Avons to replace the OE Dunlops. They were fine up to 100mph, but then the bike would weave alarmingly, & no change of pressures would fix it. Next I tried some Bridgestone BT50s which were superb. After two pairs of those they stopped making them, so I moved on to Metzlers which were great until they updated them. The bike was then so bad to ride that I had them replaced after a very short mileage.
The other time was with Michelins fitted to the 920. I could not stop the bike weaving at anything over 75mph.
Another expensive mistake.

Expensive mistakes are my forte ......

They are not discontinued (still show as current on the Avon website), but the UK plant where they were made was closed in late 2023. The Roadrunner Mk 2s I bought in July 2024 were some of the last UK production, so they seem to have some stock they are selling, but I am not sure if they have plans to produce these in France.

I think you are confusing Roadrunners with Roadriders. The Roadrunner was introduced in the mid seventies, & was until recently still available in 4.10x19" size.
