Prepping this morning for an all day ride out, i see sometinh sitting in between a tread block on rear tyre. Wouldn't just brush out...turned out to be a metal spike or nail stuck into edge of tyre. Took a bit of work with needle nose pliers to finally work it out...was a U type "nail" with more that one half into tyre. No air escaped once it was out. Must have skirted along btwn sidewall and inner tube. Pressure holding fine....

I've lost 2 tubes to old roofing nails and deck screws . Toronto is full of renovators .

Yeah...we had the garage roof replaced a few years back; when I asked, the contractor said, "Don't worry, we've gone over the driveway with a big magnetic sweeper to pick up any errant nails so you won't get a flat tire!" He was right, we didn't get A flat tire; we got three!

These are old black steel ones in Toronto central . Many older homes now worth over 1 M. , so the owners bring in the roofers for the 3rd. ,.4th. and improperly 5 th . cover over . Doing it properly means scraping / pulling off the roofing materials down to the plywood to ascertain if rot has set in or not . Dumpsters on the street , sloppily dumped into means plenty of nails and screws there from budget renovators . Then you drive by on the Norton and voila , calling up CAA and abandoning any plans .
