Ignition Advice Needed

Except for the zener and chokes they all went on my bike in 1979.

Zener has also gone now but I retain and firmly beleive chokes are a good idea.

Ya, chokes are like an oil thread. The amazing people are those that think they need a "little choke" which, of course, is no choke! Or the customer I had with a 77 Bonneville that he bought new: Always started the bike with no choke and then dutifully turned it on - all those years wondering why it fouled plugs all the time, smoked, and ran bad. His life was really improved when I rebuilt his engine and removed the chokes!

Yes. Definitely many people get the choke activation the wrong way around.

I guess another reason to leave them out is that my experience is modern reproduction choke levers are poorly made and continually vibrate on. I threw mine away and recreated one that actually worked out of a box of old bits.

I think you're pointin at the power socket. I can simply be disconnected (the two wires from behind it go to connectors nearby) - you'll never use it. Warning - the Brown/Blue wire to it is hot.

It still has the plug, so one of those wires coming from it is likely to be hot too.
