Me neither.... Still don't get the joke ... sorry ...![]()
Never heard of "menonites" before!Mennonites are a religious sect very similar to the Amish - in telling the joke the pronunciation of “ men in tights ‘ should sound like
“ Menn on ites” . It is presumed that if men are wearing tights they may be of an alternative sexual orientation.
Yer learn sumthin new every day !As I understand it , the Mennonites are a bit less strict then the Amish . While the Amish must use horse and buggy, the Mennonites can have automobiles - however they can’t have anything flashy so no chrome. Hence the term “ Black bumper Amish “. ( I hope this is not offensive to anyone) .
Automobile dealers in areas of large Mennonite populations offer cars prepared with chrome removed , bumpers powder coated, etc.
Sounds like a decent communityThere are several Mennonite enclaves in our Province a few local , very good new Canadians , after the last hurricane they pitched in with roofers etc. with no charge for labour or materials replacing roofs for those who couldn’t …. they farm , run bakeries and make best trailers in our area …. they do stick together religiously![]()
