What’s the best none Norton Norton ?

It’s not only about the money. It’s also about the limited shed space. And the fact that I only have one arse… and already have 9 bikes…:rolleyes::oops:

Posted this beauty earlier in the thread - here’s a supporting video.

Yes please - willing to sell a lung, spleen and probably a testicle although, I think you’d probably need both to risk riding this on our roads! :oops:

Ok, this has re-ignited my interest for a vintage Commando stablemate for the 961, in black and gold of course.

He’s obviously done a lot of work on this bike - not sure it would please the purists! Got a lot of info from this site apparently.

No denying the cool factor!

Definitely, one very bitchin' Commando!:cool:
No , This is not a Norton 961 replacement . I lost track of where to post this so here it is in Best Non-Norton Norton. Those that have a bike with floor boards opinions please.

Dooooood, the pipes....

I like the floorboards on my cruisers. Allows change of position for my old knees/hips

I’ve got footboards on one of the fleet, I like them. As Concours says, it allows a variation in foot position.

That exhaust pipe was CLEARLY designed to be replaced… immediately…

It nearly feels like a Harley Big twin and matches the 6th gear cruising rpm on the 107 I rode recently. Very little cornering clearance , at least not what I am acustom to. Good , it will slow me down .
2200 = 60 mph
2500 = 70 mph
2800 = 80 mph

Tony there’s nowt wrong with having a bike that slows you down a bit and still provides an enjoyable ride.

That said, I’d venture to suggest it might not slow you down as much as you currently think when you get accustomed to riding it.

I don’t scrape my footboards anywhere near as much as I expected to.

Great looking bike. Did they try to sell you the "special" 60wt oil for it??

Yes the floorboards will scrap...alot. You can fix that with new shocks!! 😂 OR smaller boards. New shocks will raise the bike up a little bit. That the expensive route but it works to overcome poor designs.

No they havent. I was hoping to run 20W50 in it , instead of the 20W40 they call for .
Indian tries to push that 15w-60 on everyone. 20w- 50 is fine since the engine runs hotter just make sure the bike is warm before takeoff!! Buy oil by the gallon if you can since 3 will do 2 oil changes perfectly and you won't have a bunch of bottles around

also, some changes you will get all 6 quarts in and some 5quarts so dont be alarmed by that. It all depends on how much oil drains back when you turn off the bike.

Riding buddy of mine wrote off two bikes (including a Duc V4), at the same junction, in the same manner, in the same year! Lightning anybody!

He’s just bought one of these, which is definitely in the ‘eye of the beholder’ but promises to be loadsa fun - feels so light you could pick it up and tuck it under your arm.

What’s got me flabbergasted (although I’d heard talk before) is the ‘pay for performance’ model KTM has going on now (I think they’re calling it demo mode)! Not a scam, but commercially corrupt you could argue.

He gets all of the fancy tech included when he buys it, as a taster, but at 1500 Km ‘poof’ the ECU switches some tech off and you have to pay (a lot) for your stealer to switch it back on!! It includes cruise control, which already has a dedicated button on the dash (I think), that he’s paid for! This is not a cheap bike.

Technology offered as an accessory:oops:? It‘d be like hiring a ‘lady of the night’ to find that she’s wearing a chastity belt - either way, you’re getting screwed! But only if you pay again!!! Or is it the way of the future.

When your buddy bought the bike, was the fact that some tech would be turned off in the future revealed to him by the dealer?
If this was in the contract, and your buddy signed it, too bad for him.
If not, sounds like "bait and switch" to me, and that is Illegal in the states.
On a completely different topic, not enough brightly colored, angular plastic bits on that KTM, far too conservative.😀
