ELECTREX IGNITION ANYONE?

I have an Electrex ignition and I have 2 questions. First, the instructions provided are poor. 2nd, this is for a BSA A65 but the same question could pop up for a Norton.
The rotor has only the FA mark, no others. From the youtube video the mark is only useful while strobe timing. This rotor has NO other marks such as a graduated scale so I will have to provide that. I assume the mark I want is TDC, then tighten the crank nut. The motor will advance electronically. Correct? Also triggers the ignition? The magnet is a solid ring with no breaks.

Have you read the other threads on the Electrex, if you have then you should know the best installation method is straight to bin.

I am really disappointed with the Electrex World STK-102D-DC kit – what looks on a page as a great solution has turned out to be a really poorly executed box of bits.

Not only are the instructions very poor (and we are pretty competent in the workshop) but the service from Electrex World has been absolutely disgusting.

This product is not fit for purpose.

I am really thinking of giving this thing back to the owner. I signed on to build the motor which I did. Not to fight with an unknown ignition

My brother uses those systems on both his H1 and H2 Kawasaki two strokes. They are extremely reliable. However if fitted to a Commando the triggering mechanism might be a problem. He has only ever had one problem with the Kawasakis and those systems. At one race meeting a spark plug lead popped out of it's coil. So he just plugged it back in and went out in the next race. There was a detonation which cracked a cylinder head. He then had to buy a new box for the ignition system. But $600 is not dear for a two-stroke ignition system.

I have one of these ignitions, it came fitted to a bike I bought. No generator involved, ignition only

It is fitted to a Yamaha single of SR500/XT500 origins. As an ignition it is simple to use and delivers what is promised, a spark without having to have a battery.

I only had to contact Electrex World because I wanted to confirm I had the correct timing after an engine rebuild! My trigger unit was not marked as referenced in the previous owner supplied instructions (which can also be downloaded from Elextrex World's website).

As a company to deal with Elextrex World leave something to be desired, in particular an ability to communicate in any way with customers.

I have another similar technology ignition (again no generator) on another (twin cylinder) bike, the supplier seems to be from the same mould! Though they have changed hands and may be improving.

I would not fit either of these ignitions on a Norton! I use a simple Pazon.

If I want to go higher tech, and develop a crank trigger mechanism, I would go for an Ignitech!
