Yesterday, after cleaning the optical lens with alcohol , the bike started. If the problem occurs again, I’ll remove the power Arc from the engine and inspect it under magnification. On both occasions there was no visible sign of any contamination. No oil getting into the distributor, no mist…. everything inside appeared absolutely clean and dry. Once removed, if I find out the anything is migrating up the Norton distributor shaft, I’ll switch to a different housing. I have a Dolphin Coil Ignition setup that was designed for a Vincent twin back in the 70’s. It’s just in the process of getting new bearings and lip seals. The Dolphin was designed to use a modified ( to 50 degrees) Norton Commando breaker plate, so the PowerArc will be a direct fit. If the problem continues, I have the option of replacing the Power Arc with a coil and a set of points….one step closer to a mag.
