Has anyone tried an in-line cable switch (like,I think, the early front drum Commandos had) for a rear brake switch?
The halfway rear-sets work I'm doing makes the existing one stand out like dogs balls - and I mean not terribly good looking ones!
A cable switch would be very discreet - just have to make a new cable, or modify the existing one.

The switch is shown on this AN cable: https://andover-norton.co.uk/en/shop-details/15861/front-brake-cable-c-w-switch-

I have a Ducati rear drum brake wheel in my Commando with the cable going from one side of the bike to the other,I chopped up a Std Ducati rear drum cable to use the fittings, this included the inline brake switch, this is the same type as most britsh bikes. It has been fitted there for some years now and it works for me.

My rear sets utilize the same in-line as the front brake style and is useless. I think the internal binding of the cable due to the various angles of the cable going to the drum messes with the action of the switch and does not get the travel it needs to activate.

+1 for for micro or pull type.

I thought it was pretty much agreed that the inline brake switch makes the front brake more "mushy", detracting from its effectiveness. The rear brake is even less effective, so wouldn't installing an inline switch make it even worse??

Yes I would avoid any in-line switch because they interfere with the brake’s activation

Thanks for helpful input.
Just bought a genuine Honda rear switch (2004-7 CBR1000RR) and will make myself a "cliffa-hanger"
,,,special thanks to @cliffa !
