Push rod rattle ?

My ride was good today.... Nothing but looking at coastal flatland and listening to Norton noise. I find it relaxing. Anyway new speedometer drive will be in Friday and the guesswork is going to be removed old one disintegrated last month.
Hope you folks have a nice ride.... Had a R100RT once upon a time I wish I'd kept. Sure miss it sometimes, except for my foot getting caught shifting.... A dream on the road. Hide the beemer. Just a little fib is all. She'll forgive you eventually.... maybe.

It's a 97 Glacier green r1100 rt . 100,000 kms. on it.

What is it with us old folks n beemers ? Mine is a 85 k100 RT. No soul but no rattles etc !!!

Mine was an '80. No cool factor at all... Just ate up miles with good handling, exceptional reliability, & comfort. A fool is born every day.

Well we can close this thread finally. Took apart the entire crossover bean can system . The crossover pipe uses 2 sliding end tubes and 4 bolts with nuts to crush them onto the center crossover exhaust tube. Cut slits at the tightening areas were at their maximum for crushing limitations. That's why the bike started up quietly , then quickly became rattly as heat expanded that assembly. I took a Dremel tool with grinding wheel tip and cut the slots slightly more open. They now pinch down more firmly on the crossover tube and the header flange. Used Copper heat silicone on all fixing points. No more rattle !

Closing the thread yet again , found the REAL problem. The MK 111 primary chain tensioner was seizing up , freeing up , seizing up. Then it fully seized up (upper tube and it's skate plunger ) , causing chain slop . This ate away at some aluminum.
Anyways there is a new tensioner and gasket and plungers in there ( with a big cleaning effort , with fresh oil ) so she runs smooth and quiet in there now. Thanks for all the guesses and theories to a year back. Onwards !
