Well Access Norton has my attention atm along with all you all .
As uncertainty exists at this stage I thought this thread may be of reference if we can’t get spares , we know brembo callipers go on brakes for other bikes but which ones , & I think the discs may be Yamaha ? , I know the red plastic fuel spigot is used in car fuel injection & is made by JG ( John Guest) & fuel pump is Moto Guzzi, clutch plates might be Suzuki .
So if we know what parts are readily available from other main stream bikes it’s going to make life easier, I replaced my rear indicator s with identical ones from a triumph 1050 sprint ( with flexible stems) tip from Lincolnshire poacher that one .
Any other info we know please post

I'm pretty sure engine parts are going to be the most problematic to source. The rest of the stuff was bought in so should be less of an issue.

As there seems almost no reference in the forum to the gearbox I'm hoping it's pretty resilient. Does anyone know if the internals are shared with something?

Maybe we need to compile a list of component suppliers and common parts?

And what's the chance of getting access to the Omex ECU?

I owned an EBR. I just recently sold it. But on their forum they started a list of parts from other bikes that fit on the EBR.
I think we could start an organised list of parts so it would be easier to research when needed. I remember that the trans was from another bike but can't remember which one. Brembo & Ohlins stuff should be easy. That Sporty starter is great idea. Lets start something.

Kenny Dreer used a Baker Drivetrain gearbox in his 961, similar to the XL6 cassette model.
These are used in Harley Sportsters, and older Buell units.
Don't know if SG used Baker as a supplier, or sourced his gearboxes from others.

As a legacy, it Norton goes tits up, it would be nice if someone from the factory could come up with a list of suppliers and reference numbers. We know a lot of the stainless and billet chassis parts were in house but I'm not at all worried about that stuff as most good engineering workshops could replicate one-offs. ECU, injection and engine would be the priority... oh and clocks as they do seem to be non user serviceable

When Hesketh went tits up, Mick Broom; Hesketh’s development engineer and test rider, set up shop to look after Hesketh customers. This turned into a thriving business for him.

There are more 961s out there than Heskeths. And (to put it politely) each 961 offers considerable potential future work...

Maybe someone at Norton could do similar?

Lots of questions to ask depending on what happens;
Where existing stock goes.
Where part finished bikes go.
where stock held by suppliers goes.
what happens to exhaust forming kit which Norton bought from original company that folded.
templates/jigs for welded tubes.
moulds for carbon fibre parts.
access codes for Omex ECU.

‘Tis true Clive and I guess none of that will be clear until the future is decided. All of what you describe has potential value in the eyes of the administrators, so they ain’t gonna let it go anywhere ...

You know??? These posts about The Cootes's impending YouTube vids, Thiel Motorsports parts manufacturing and now AF1 parts cloning is more than a glimmer of hope. Maybe CNW will get on board. I'm fortunate enough to have a couple of local mechanics that relish the thought of working on a 961, so there is a glimmer of hope. It took a few years to sort the bitch, I'm not getting rid of it. Its just TOO much fun. Although its got internal flaws, its still built like a tank.

Well great so glad you have got a good one; Re; "it's still built like a tank" . . . Until your ECU decides to go for early retirement!

Mine was not a "good one". After two years, new rings, valve covers, updated clutch, starter, tranny (which took 7 months to clear red tape as it sat on Mr. Green's desk) I'm probably the original start to Norton's bad reputation. The fueling still sucks. Willing to bet an ECU / map replacement will eventually be available. Not rocket science.

So do tell me WTF " it's built like a tank" comes from?

hmmm, I was attracted by the ‘built like a tank’ over engineered idea... but then a few people who were racking up decent mileage started to experience pretty dire mechanical failures and I found myself asking that same question...

and hopefully good people working to help owners wont get threatened from now on.....

Not speaking of reliability. Mercedes isn't reliable either. Would you agree its built more solidly than a Kia?

Not all tanks were built reliably either. I mean externally. The fact that she went down at 35 mph. and only showed a few cosmetic scrapes. Solid metals instead of cast crap and plasitcs (other than the tank) like the R9T and the Triumphs.
