Nonsense Pete,... cite specific examples. Cut the "go look at,... blah blah blah" as an argument. Cite your proof, don't ask me to go look somewhere and claim that the proof is there. When I look and find nothing, you'll still claim it's there, just that I can't find it... Make an actual argument, not just claim there's valid arguments out there...

I'm old, I've seen enough "UFO" and "Finding Bigfoot" shows and the like, to know the difference between claiming, we know that the proof is out there... and citing proof.

Money wins elections... both parties are actually against campaign finance reform, in spite of the lip service you hear from either of them.

Minimum wage act.
Student loan affordability act.

I type all this crap on my phone, it's a PITA, easier for you guys to do some research. These are all bills that would directly benefit the American people.

And yes, I realize these were passed in the house and will probably never see a vote in the senate. McConnel doesn't want big money out of politics because the direct result will be more Democrats elected.

Democrats introduce a bill to severely limit the influence of money on elections and the Republican senate majority leader refuses to allow a vote on it. Why do you all think that is? Want me to provide some more links or what?

I can understand why a wealthy person might vote Republican, but no way in hell can I understand why those of meager means vote for a Republican.

NOW that's a real argument Pete... Christmas was relaxing and uneventful. I'm on a job where the builder has the heat on,.. thankfully.

Interestingly, Obama added more debt than all the previous presidents combined... so it's ironic that democrats vote for debt limits. I have an interesting article written about them that compares our debt practices to a family budget... I should post it

I also got some good breaks and was treated well because of privelidge based on my dad's status at a company I worked at. People these days act like the 60's civil rights movement never happened.

Either way, it's a fanciful quip that neither man was ever poor enough to know the meaning of first hand. It's less of a "great truth" and more of a thing to say at some elitest party to sound profound.

Give an example of your comment. Which politician? how do you know each person's wealth? I think you watch too much CNN and MSNBC... It sounds like something one of their low IQ talking heads would say, like chuck todd or Morning Joe...

The quip is not from anyone else. Unlike many on the right, I do not parrot media talking heads.

You sound much like one of the country rubes the Republican politicians love to hear from. Especially on Election Day.

My goodness believing in either party seems pretty much a fool's errand. Both sides are interested in themselves first party second you last.
If, perchance, you live stateside in CA or NYS, your vote means nothing because they are one party states. You can only vote with your feet.
Once you reach a certain age all politics is transparent. Most people with a grain of sense worry about themselves because if they dont government sure isnt going to take care of them despite what they tell you.

I’ve been retired for twenty years. Union pension and Social Security benefits. Medicare, too. The three would not exist were it up to Republicans.
 
The United States is the only country I know of that you can be bankrupted if you become seriously ill. Yet those on the right oppose any effort to correct this travesty.

Agreed.

But it doesn't take a poor man to see the writing on the wall.

I don't have the luxury of giving up on the government. I have no pension, probably no social security, shitty health insurance and another 60 years to live. I can't just opt out and make cynical remarks from the sidelines.

So what do I do? I vote for the person I think has mine and my families best interests at heart. That person is not a Republican.

Yeah, I get it. You're in your later years so you vote for the party who hands out the benefits for votes, and hands the taxpayers the bill. I don't think you're a "rube" for voting in your own self interest, but I think there's another side of the coin to the most of the hand out mentality. At some point, much like our national debt the shit is going to hit the fan.

From day 1, I knew the ACA was going to be something other than "affordable". They name sports arenas and football stadiums after insurance companies. They aren't going to help make healthcare cost less, and neither are hospitals. I had a cardio stress test done for my high blood pressure. The bill was $3,400. for 20 minutes of the doctor's time. He looked at my heart sonograms and ran out of the room. When I grabbed him to say, "I have questions", he said, "I'm busy, you're fine." and left. While good health care is a blessing when you need it, it's also a business where hospitals, insurance companies, and drug companies are used to high profits. The problem isn't the quality of care,... the problem is the cost. I digressed here, but my point is that YOU may vote for the dem's because you are on the recieving end of your well deserved benefits. Many don't vote for them because they are on the paying end...

honestly, you get out of NYC NOW and buy some property somewhere that is growing, because the shithole cities are going to cast a wave of people who are fed up into the rural areas of this country (again) so your best investment will be a house in some quaint little town in idaho or colorado, or washington state ;). Fix the place up, sell it in 5 years, and move 5 miles out of town and do it again... other than that, I wouldn't know what to tell you if you stay in NYC.

I think you are wrong there. I think Donald Trump wants to be the most successful president ever,... for his own ego... He realizes that both parties have shafted the american blue collar middle class and he won the presidency on the issues surrounding our forgotten blue collar americans. His best quality is that he's not a washington insider from either party. As Onder said, both parties are self serving first, then to their financial backers, then lastly YOU... Trump is a wild card, and that's why even his own party was working against him in his first years when they had a house and senate majority.
