My dumb country self is likewise curious because I always figured factory spec was on the tablet Moses dropped and was #11.

Thou shalt not solder on the sabbath or any day with a Y in it.
Jimc, verse 27:1

Nah.... It was one of the originals given to Moses. The others came from NV ... Sorry I can't force the GB word because the label on my Norton said England specifically. It had a nice little tag which said 'Made in England'.
I couldn't begin to list nor count the Norton commandments for they are many..... far too many for mortal men doomed to die. We may only pray to master obedience of enough to survive our brief time here with our lovely crates.

looks like a stock norton swingarm, front spindle/bushing area, cut off flat mid cross tube then welded to the rest of it

Yes it might be stiffer than stock. But I believe the 850's MKII onwards have reinforcing gussets at the near 90 degree forward welds.

dunno if stiffer than stock, figure the longer arm would be a factor for that, or the merits of factory reinforcements to the commando swingarm cos noticed the feafherbead swingarm didn't get them ..eitherway

any other thoughts on the integrity of this home brew bit for use as is? quality of welds? design? dunno if the section aft of the stock norton front spindle bushing area might be from another bike, or just custom welded up
