Gas tank sag

Hey Tony,

Like minds!!! It’s where my mind went to straight away. I even created a story in my head, explaining to the wife how the Ally tank was the only option for my broken standard one!!!

I'm still laughing...... I have so conjured such magnificent stories to bolster my chances when attempting to make such purchase.

I had thought of that. Don't care for the ally look, so it would need paint.
If this bike were more reliable I'd be happy to spend for goodies. I'm not going to spend 3500. plus paint on a bike that needs constant mechanical attention.

I suppose an Aluminum tank replacement is out of the question ?

Tony,

How does the Alloy tank mount, does the tank have studs or the same screw-in bolts.
I think there is a market here for an Indian or Taiwanese steel tank.
Would be cool if EMGO could supply something that fit the 961 with reasonable quality.

It mounts the same way . I would love to put on an alum tank. The extra capacity and range would be great. The 961 can be a fuel miser and it is fun because everybody who talks to you wonder how you can drive it so far. Near 200 miles to the tank I figure , not bad for a roadster !

I just spent a good few hours cleaning my ally tank, it shines but some of the scratches will need a buffing wheel or even fine grit paper.... that's the only downside to owning one, and the initial investment cost.

I am supposing you mean the initial investment cost of the Alum Tank ? The New 961 was a pretty penny too !

I have already written off the cost of the 961, I do that once the order is placed on any bike, knowing that I will get something back even if it's quite not what I would hope for. The cost of the 'accessories' always bugs me, in this case tank+fuel pump assembly £2k! Mind you, the cost of 'genuine' H-D accessories is no better, nor Indian come to that!

So far its holding. Better to drop the tank on instead of mounting the bolt and hoping it drops through. Totally different angle with a protruding bolt than internal, especially upside down on a work bench and dropping it onto an angled frame. Fingers crossed.
Tank and paint would cost over 4 grand. Forget that. If I can get over 12 months without a problem, I'd consider it.
But notice, I still have mine.
