who on here has experience the boyer micro power or micro digital system? i have heard from a reliable source that one of them has an issue with a minor hiccup around mid range RPM but could not recall which one. also how happy are you with it as to idle and over running.

I have a boyer microdigital (red box) ignition. It replaced my first analog (black box) model. I've had it for a long time. I didn't have any hiccups with the analog, nor have I ever had one with the microdigital. Certainly, I'm just one data point, and there's a lot of variables other than the just the "box" itself that go into the ignition system. I use a 3.0 ohm dyna coil, and have numerous extra grounds to make sure I have multiple paths to make a complete circuit. I used the stock rectifier and zener diode.

As far as idling goes, my commando idles really well, but I'm pretty good with amals, and valve adjustments too. When everything is right, a commando is less tempermental than they're reputed to be.

My boyer is set at 31* advanced at 5000 rpms too, so I'm not retarding the timing to get a better idle.

I have no clue about the boyer micropower, since I've never had one.

The Micro Power crank triggered kit gave my bike a good steady idle.

There was nothing else good about it though.

and what was the rubbish about it?

Biggest ever kickbacks and loudest backfires when kickstarting.

Inordinate sensitivity to RF interference: any loose connection in the HT circuit made the ignition randomly shut down and stop the engine. A lot of HT terminals aren’t particularly tight, because it doesn’t usually matter.

The blue box eventually packed in dead and Boyer couldn’t fix it. They very kindly offered to sell me another, but I declined.

I have used the analogue and micro digital with good results.

I have used a few micro-power units also and they worked well once the coil that came with it was replaced with a better one. When the supplied coil fails it usually takes the box with it.

well i did go with a micro digital last week. i took it out sunday for a 160 ride and it was a pleasure to ride. the idle issue that the pazon introduced from the trispark is now gone. it will now hold a constant and reliable idle at whatever i set it at like the trispark and had zero running or starting issues, again like the trispark. i expect a lot more reliable ign than the trispark but it sure cant be worse and was a lot less in cost. now as to the idle issue i am sure that the ign is covering up a worn carb issue and will address that later but for now it runs and idles great. PS on the fillup it was 2.1 us gallons at 124 miles with twin amals.
