I have a boyer microdigital (red box) ignition. It replaced my first analog (black box) model. I've had it for a long time. I didn't have any hiccups with the analog, nor have I ever had one with the microdigital. Certainly, I'm just one data point, and there's a lot of variables other than the just the "box" itself that go into the ignition system. I use a 3.0 ohm dyna coil, and have numerous extra grounds to make sure I have multiple paths to make a complete circuit. I used the stock rectifier and zener diode.
As far as idling goes, my commando idles really well, but I'm pretty good with amals, and valve adjustments too. When everything is right, a commando is less tempermental than they're reputed to be.
My boyer is set at 31* advanced at 5000 rpms too, so I'm not retarding the timing to get a better idle.
I have no clue about the boyer micropower, since I've never had one.
