What is a Norton Super Commando?

I usually get the guy who "had one that would do 140 in third gear" "had to lay mine down to keep from going under a train" or "knows where there is a whole barn full of them." But my favorite was a guy looking at my mere 850, telling me his "dad had one, but it was a thousand"
Some years back, late 90's I think a friend that lived on the west coast was telling me how sick he was of hearing the story that a friend of a friend had imported a Harley from the US and after some research found it to have originally belonged to Elvis.
His come back was that a friend of a friend of his had a BMW imported from Germany that turned out to be owned by Adolf Hitler.

Yup,
I had one idiot looking at my T160 who claimed his dad had a year 64, I just can't be bothered to tell them anything nowadays.

Same here, I just keep nodding and smiling and saying “oh really” and “that’s nice” until I start the bike then yell “sorry mate, can’t here you” and depart.

One of the best was one that collared my Dad whilst we were out on the bikes and went into a king diatribe about the the Triumph he NEARLY bought... all that waffle about a bike he never had!!

It's a regular thing
One bloke told me he had a dunstall atlas that had a 160 mph top end and could cruise at 140 !!!!!

If I’m in the mood I like to have a laugh with them with something like:

“Yeah mate... they don’t make them like this anymore... it might look old hat and out paced now... but back in the day... with the technology they had... back when it was new... and when you compare it to what else was was available at this time ... it was f***in’ shite...!”

That kinda leaves them somewhat dumbfounded...

I think I had one of those cruise-at-140 MPH Nortons! I'm sure my 750 back in the day was at least that fast! :)

Sometimes when I wear my Norton shirt - just says "Norton" in the Norton logo script, no picture or other words - I occasionally have someone ask me if I can help them with their (Norton) anti-virus software. When I tell them it's a Norton MOTORCYCLE shirt, they often respond something like, "A what?"

We all know the secret is that they'll all do whatever is on the speedometer scale. The facts could be kept hidden only so long because we have unfaithful 'leakers' amongst us.
