650 Superlight

I suspect it’s for the race team only.

However, it was available to us mere mortals, I suspect the cost would be exorbitant !

Pretty cool though isn’t it?

Bad news why Nigel?
Yet another irresistible temptation perhaps?

Exactly! More evil temptation!

However, I’m guessing this might be a little too rich for me.

I’m currently trying to find out the £ for lbs relationship... just out of curiosity of course...

...of course, of course... ahem!!

Well it’s like I said to the wife... all that weight saving reduces fuel consumption, so it pays for itself over time.

And, most importantly, burning less fossil fuel helps save the environment.

I can’t write her response on a public forum...

yes...the 'bike' IS available to all....but will the carbon frame be...? If so, it will be an astronomical price...i prefer the looks of the chrome frame personally..

Nice work, BUT you need to be careful with your justifications lest you lose all credibility with your significant other.
Sometimes, less is more.

Not crazy about the whole CF and CF look craze. My Daytona is covered in bits of it from the PO who obviously was smitten with that look. I wonder what this stuff will look like after a few years in the sun.
It is just lightweight plastic afterall. Fortunately on the Daytona it's just cosmetic bits that can easily be replaced.
After seeing some of the problems with CF in lightweight bicycles, I wouldn't trust the stuff for a high powered MC frame.

The CF racing seatposts ( no longer available) were a very painful experience!

Scott, I think Stuart was responding to your Q if the bike would be available. I can't see how Norton would go through the pains of getting appropriate certification both sides of the pond for what would amount to a handful of sales... I could be wrong.

I hope you’re correct. One less temptation...!

The wheels on my car are factory installed Carbon fiber.
Ford put carbon fiber wheels on the 2015-2018 Mustang GT350R.
You can most definitely tell the difference in steering, braking and handling response. They are literally 1/2 the weight of the aluminum version.
Carbon is stiffer than an aluminum wheel. I can run less camber on the track running the carbon fiber wheels than I can with the forged aluminum wheels. Carbon is also stronger, lighter and a lot more expensive lol.

Ford decided to paint them gloss black instead of leaving them clear coated and having the carbon fibers exposed. I’m glad they decided to paint them gloss black, the 2020 GT500 will have carbon wheels also, but not painted gloss black. Instead they are gloss clear coat.

They also put a white ceramic coating on the front wheels inner barrel to protect from the extreme brake heat.

I’ll send him a direct message and ask more specifics. I’ll report back and see what he says.

I realize that CF has very good technical stats when new, but what happens when it ages ?
Plastics tend to age badly, especially when subjected to sunlight. In the case of carbon fibre, it's mainly the epoxy resins that deteriorate with UV.

Long before CF showed up in the motorcycle and car markets it was available and in use in the racing bicycle market.
It hasn't always aged well.
