Assistance in filling out the V335/5 form.
Line 11 (which applies to Line 64)
Certificate of Conformity.
Bike is a USA import mfg 4/70.
Bike imported with me as personal property as an immigrant no sale involved.
Bike previously legally registered in USA (State of NY).
Is there any explanation for not having a certificate? Does it get a pass as
a Classic as I will for the tax and MOT?
Now to show just how pathetic I am, last year registered my Commando no
problem but totally forgot anything I did about this line in the form!
Any help here?
 
I've found DVLA quite helpful, although they don't communicate much and their methods can be positively Byzantine … What's worked best for me when approaching them with a less-than-straightforward issue is to complete the form as best you can and enclose it with a clearly worded letter stating the facts and the issue as briefly as possible. I wouldn't be surprised if you simply don't need a Certificate of Comformity, as the bike was manufactured in the UK in 1970, and so long as it hasn't had any major modifications, of the kind they want to look at. HTH
 
With old bikes you leave a lot of that form blank, looks odd but it works, over a certain age no Cert of conformity is needed.

Not tried it but you should not even need an MOT as long as you have a dating cert from the correct place, NOC being one of them, plus the V112 in its place.

When I imported my T140, as Kommando says, all of the conformity stuff doesn't apply due to the ones the form asks about were not in place when the vehicle was built, so just leave it blank.
I seem to recall that I sent off the form with a covering letter explaining my omissions, and I never got any come back on it.
 
As promised I report back: got my two bikes through Swansea today. No problems. Followed the link in my above posting. I did put in the mileage although it apparently is optional. Didnt want any oh ohs from The Authorities.
Must say Im relieved to have two more boat anchors to insure and attempt to keep ridable.
...and which bike is the most reliable and the go to bike?
Winner is: 74 Norton!
