2019 Norton 650 Atlas Scrambler specs

That's a nice bike, but I'm eyeballing the Triumph 1200 Street Twin simply for the dealerships nearby here in NY. Can't do this long distance thing anymore.

Me too.
Thrux HP motor, mag wheels, dual Brembos, decent riding position.
My only bitch is that blacked out motor, wish it was bare aluminum color.
Put that stuff on modern naked bikes, not on modern classics.
OK, sermon over.

Once again, sorry for polluting this Norton thread.

BritTwit,
The engine is in all the 1200 Bonneville’s and derivatives in silver, chrome and black options - I expect the options will apply to this one.
Keeping it Norton, I prefer the Nomad as the styling on the ranger leaves a big gap for ingress of all sorts of road grime between wheel and fender, the bash plate also looks like a crud trap
Eye of the beholder!
John

Yeah I think you’re right about the crud issues John!

I liked the looks of the 1200 Triumph scrambler too, until I saw it in the flesh. Maybe my expectations were wrong but it just didn’t do it for me, tho I’m sure it’ll be a very capable motorcycle.

Nigel,
I think the “brits” are looking at the speed twin, thruxton performance with Bonneville ergonomics. Might be tempted to swop my Sprint for one if it pans out...
London Excel motorcycleshow in Feb - between the Nomad and the speed twin for me I think.

John,
You may want to hold on to your Sprint. According to Classic Bike Guide these folks are shortly bringing out a proper (i.e. no balloon front tyre or brown seat etc.) cafe kit for them. https://www.caferacerkits.co.uk/

And you can revert it when you want apparently.

Cheers,

cliffa.

I'm sure, side by side, I'd probably like the Norton better if the careful attention to aesthetic details and quality components are anything like the Commando and other 961s. If I lived across the pond, that may be my choice. But here in NY, mass production makes more sense at the moment.

And don't forget - proximity to an actual dealer too.;)
