I’m no expert so this is from the old britts site.
Return Line to the Oil Tank

This line comes from the inner pipe of the oil junction block and runs to the oil filter (for models with an oil filter), then to the back of the oil tank or the small banjo on the square oil tanks. Most Commandos that do not have an oil filter can have one added, see Filter Mounting Instructions for more information.

thanks.I did see that.I cant make out anything from those instructions!

I have a '70 commando with that same oil tank, and I don't see where you've added the magnafine filter, but I would like to see where you are putting it... And yes, the small higher up hole on the tank is the oil return side of the flow. I bought a magnafine filter over a year ago but didn't want to add it without securing it solidly because once it fills with oil, it will be heavy and bounce around if it's not secured properly.

I think you have it right, but your description is in reverse of the flow of oil. Inner junction block on engine to filter to small banjo on tank if you follow the flow of oil.

Have purchased a bracket, and will mount on underside of battery tray. Will update, when back at workshop, when this Christmas thing is over!

ok dry fitted hose routing, and oil filter today.Hopefully the pics are self explanatory.Oil return is routed across oil tank,(clamped) and around cradle to underside of battery tray, where Magnafine filter is fitted. Then hose exits into oil tank.oil tank "breather" at front of tank, has spigot welded to it.It then rises up to catch tank which has hose to atmosphere.(not yet decided on fitting options)
