Both my '67 and '68 have the exact same kill switch.

However, my '68 will blow a fuse when pressed, haven't figured that out yet.

If it’s coil ignition, a kill switch can work by shorting the CB side of the coil to the handlebar. Connecting to the SW side of the coil will blow a fuse whenever you press the button.

That is how the 35601 switch works. It sends both coils to ground when pushed. You cannot use this switch if running an electronic ignition unless you wire it to trigger a relay which opens the EI circuit.
 
Do you mean it is blowing because my coils are wired incorrectly? I run points.
Possibly. The kill button should have two wires, one each to the black/yellow and black/white wire (+ terminal) of each coil. These wires run from the points to the coils. Make certain you have the correct button. There are several similar buttons, but it should ground each wire connection to the switch case (and handlebar) when pushed.

Piero, the switch itself is pictured above, see eBay adverts also.
However, having a look at s/n 034080 body (or housing) for the kill switch would be far more interesting. I have never seen one offered for sale. p400, would you have a sketch of its dimensions also?

NOS 35601 switch underside
The two housings on the left are stamped steel. The two on the right are machined steel (P11)
Again the two on the left are stamped (more rounded top edge) and two on the right are machined (more square)
This switch is found on some Triumphs and according to my continuity testing performs the same as 35601. It does seem that the button on this switch is black where the 35601 is very dark brown. I don't know if this difference is real or due to age and fading.
It should be noted I have not tried this switch on a P11.

thank you so much for the pictures and the valuable additional information. For those of us not being able to get our hands at a NOS or even a used kill switch housing and have to resort to fabricating one, a dimensional sketch would be highly useful. This would enable me to create a 3D model of the housing.

Hi there,
what would the wire diagram look like when using a Boyer Electronic ignition and coils?
 
I use a 5 pin Bosch style relay. Terminal 86 and 30 are wired to switched power. 87a is connected to the Boyer power wire. Terminal 85 is wired to the kill button which grounds to the handle bar when pushed. If using the correct 35601 switch, only one side need be wired. In this configuration, when the key is on the Boyer sees power through the "normally closed" terminal 87a. When the kill button is pressed, the relay is energized by providing ground to the coil and 87a is opened. I put a blank insulated terminal end on 87 as it is energized when the kill button is pressed.

These are available in "mini" version as well.
 
How is the kill switch supposed to mount to the handlebar? With a clip as per the above photos suggest or with small screws?
 
It mounts with a clip consisting of two strips of metal which hook into the slots on the sides of the button mount and then are connected under the handlebar with a small screw and nut.
 
Thanks! I am guessing it is near impossible to find the strips and hardware if you need them like I do.
