Hi
Looking at the SRM K2FC Boyer replacement, the one that utilises the Boyer Micro fitted inside the magneto housing, has anyone got any actual information on reliability and performance of this option?

Oh wait- I just noticed that the SRM kit has the blue box computerised Boyer Micro Power fitted. I had no success with that system and nor did some others.

Ok I will have a look at the other Boyer post and try and pick out the best option, my plan was to machine the shaft, bearing housing, rotator and make up a new smaller plate for the hall effect switches, why because I can.
That is basically what SRM are doing.
Going by the instruction manual you buy the kit and fit it yourself there is no machining of the original housing, so it can be rebuilt at a later date if so needed.

My biggest concern is the heat, with the hall effect sensors being inside the magneto, not much cooling going on in there!

I run a Wassell set in one of these, which isn’t all that different a situation from being inside a dummy mag. The pickups are potted too, but it hasn’t roasted itself. The wattage generated by the triggers must be tiny.

You could always fit a small 3inch dia plastic funnel up front attached to a pipe that puts cold air on your ignition ;)

Would have to put a filter on it to keep the bugs out, oh then there is more maintenance to do, more weight, would look unsightly etc .

Thinking about it a bit and maybe the triggers can handle the heat as the brain is out away from the heat it should be OK?
