Watcha lads & girls ,thought we could start a fresh thread on anyone travelling on their 961,whether it’s an overnighter round a mates in the next town,a weekender or a full blown week plus adventure,it can be what u took with bike & how u took it,any special mods to accommodate luggage, what went good or bad along the way.
So I’m going to kick off with my 5 day/4 nights over to France last Thursday to Monday,I used a new Givi 40litre roll bag my rack ( ment for a multistrada),coverred it in a bright orange waterproof cover to be seen, not to worried about not having the ultra cool look, just wanna be safe,20litre quick release tank bag again by Givi
The tank bag has a 3x USB power pack inside to charge sat nav & phone, first time I’ve really used a sat nav on bike on a trip ,connected it up for the “ Wharf inn “ meet , but didn’t read the manual till this week. Its a 410 Tom Tom,used it visually , not got a blu tooth head set atm.
So off to France on Chanel tunnel £66 return, 2 Harley’s ,a KTM & a 1000 Fazer came with me, no drama on the tunnel train, 30min & bang your there, first 100 Miles Moto way then country lanes thru to Tournai in Belgium for first night stay, Hotel Cathedrale in city centre was great, safe enclose parking in locked courtyard ,bars & restaurants all around ,€56 each inc breakfast.
B4 checking in we visited a local moto museum ( see the fab cars in pics ) €8 each, On the Friday morning it was a visit to “ Hitlers bunker “ which was interesting & worth a look ,he kicked out 27,000 local people from the area just so he could meet his generals & decide on terms of the French surrender .
Next 3 nights were at “ Dun sur Meuse “ in Verdun area of north east France €111 each inc breakfast , terrific bikers b& b called “ two wheels moorings “ run by Ian & Carol bikers themselves ,lan ex military & a gun nut, also gave us a local tour of WAR stuff

picture of the b & b , Carol the owner, secured parking of the bikes , there is a car ramp built in garage to get more bikes in , also enclosed a shot of the honesty fridge, grab a beer when req & bung in whatever u like in honestly tray, gets around the elf & Safety rules, also it’s a 5 bed b& b & unless u turn up on a bike ? U ain’t staying , unless you’ve visited b4 on a bike ,don’t expect a trouser Press / flat screen tv & tea making facilities in room , its a free beer on arrival, most secure bike parking ever & a comfy bed.around 850 mile trip, petrol stations are rarely manned , self service with a debit/ credit card , fuel bout same or more than the UK, eating out also value for money , So hope I haven’t bored u lot too much with all the facts, but get out there and tour on the 961 , can be done

Hitlers bunker in Belgium, built in case of an air raid, sadly we didn’t even know he was there ,bout 150 miles as the crow flies from where I live.

Boring?? HELL NO!! More like inspiring. Thanks for sharing those fantastic photos. And thanks for showing US involvement. Touching.

There is a mad genius that attends the Mallory Park Festival of 1000 bikes most years who has fitted some kind of super high revving Japanese 400cc 4 cylinder engine into one of these 3 wheelers along with hot rodded brakes and suspension etc. It’s a real eyebrow raiser watching and hearing him blast around the track with it!

My mate “ Jef” on one of the Harley’s bought home a genuine German souvenir for his wife, for some reason she was less than enthusiastic about the purchase, but his dog Brian was thrilled ,they do say dogs can smell where things of been,& maybe that black powdery stuff !!!??

The idea was to take the bicycles with us on holiday to Italy.Didn't do it in the end , but it works perfectly up to 80 mph on the motorway no problem

You're definitely going to give Norton a bad name for reliability. Most people just have breakdown cover......
