Is it better to convert my BSA Gold Star OEM battery to a sealed unit, such as a Yuasa, I think the B39-6? Are there better alternatives to the Yuasa?
Ron
Depends on whether you want reliability or originality. Some concours restorations involve putting a modern battery inside the casing of whatever old relic the old relic came out of the factory with. Glass-mat and gel electrolyte batteries are better although more expensive than regular lead-acid units. If I had to turn an old battery into a new one, I think I'd use rechargeable dry cells from cordless tools.
Hello Lillygunny
I have a Norbsa, DBD34 engine in a Featherbed frame.
I use a Burlen systems 6v dry cell battery in the seat hump and have been very happy with it.
It would nicely fit in a dummy case.
