WW2 flyer reminisces......

Spitfire944 on YouTube is a great short film about a photo reconnaisance pilot.

Mount Farm airfield is a few miles south east of Oxford and is now the village of Berinsfield. There are several airfields in that area, RAF Benson which is still operational as an RAF base, and Chalgrove - which was built as a USAAF airfield during WW2.

The guy who brought my Seeley frame into Australia was Grant McRitchie. His father Peter Mc Ritchie was flying a Mosquito in the Amiens Prison raid. He was shot down before he got there and ended-up in Colditz Castle. When I think of the lost opportunities I have had to talk to those guys, I always regret we did not have Youtube earlier. The guy who built half of my house flew Mitchell Bombers and attacked the Japanese at Rabaul. But if you don't know what they were about back then, it is not much use asking them anything. You need to have half the information to get the details. They don't usually volunteer to tell their stories.
