Greetings,
My 74 Norton 850 dumped and among other things, the foot peg gouged the primary cover. Pretty common I guess but It looks so bad that I doubt it can be repaired. Does anyone have a primary cover they will be willing to sell? Thanks a lot!

Sorry no help on a replacement but you may find it repairable - unless you have a concours type bike and can't tolerate the blemish?
My primary cover has been welded where the footpeg had punched through it - all from before my time.
Quite noticeable on the inside, but who cares.
Hard to notice on the outside since it has been polished flush and the footpeg hides the small defect.

Hi, There is one one E-bay at the moment in the USA the item number is....270326363661, it looks as though it needs a polish but at the minute it's only $20 and you are getting both inner and outer, you could re-sell the inner.

Hey...thanks for the tips.....yes it is a pretty clean bike and of course, the first thing my eye is drawn to is the gouge in the cover! I'll be watching the cover on ebay...wish me luck. Thanks!

They are on ebay all of the time. MKIII ones seem to be harder to find but MKII covers are usually always on there and usually just need some vigorous polishing.

If the gouge is in the right place maybe one of these belt-drive guys who swiss cheese the covers could use it.

If you have a dent in, support on a nice Maple block and proceed to bash it out the casting will spider crack and it will be a mess to weld, than you will always see the weld because of it's higher density. But if you are really good at welding, pre-heat the piece and weld it from inside with just the right amount of sag you can do a near invisible repair. Good luck it's worth trying.
